WOW. Most of these points are terrible. It did have a shooter accessory Dynamite Cop was basically Die Hard No B/C, the GC wasn't B/C with the N64

I found fun.exe when I bought the console. Never thought of B/C with the Saturn, that would've been really cool.

Oh well. The torch has been handed to Microsoft to battle Nintendo and Sony.

Sega's problem was killing off a console prematurely (the Saturn), and starting another too early (the Dreamcast). The biggest saturn games were just about to come out, especially when the saturn's miracle was just about to take place.

You know how the console was always theoretically more powerful than the PS1 and N64, but the power was never tapped into because of the strange relation between the two HITACHI processors? And how only a genious would have a one in a million chance of getting them to talk together properly and assert that authority over the other two consoles? Well it happened, and thus Saturn Shenmue was born. Idk if the video is on youtube (the correct video), but if you can log into nicovideo.jp and look up saturn Shenmue (requires Japanese account, knowledge) it'll probably blow your mind at what was capable on the underappreciated system.

Anyways, the best Saturn games were coming out late int he Saturn's life. Some of the best Saturn titles weren't even brought over to the America, such as Grandia and Deep Fear - although Grandia made its way onto Playstation. The best playstation games came out 1997 - 1999 and they just got better as the console grew older. The same seemed to be happening with the Saturn, but it was cut off in 1998. Games in development for the Saturn, a system more complicated to develop for than the Playstation, were shoved aside and rushed to completion to give way for the Dreamcast. The result? Both the Saturn and Dreamcast have incomplete libraries. A real shame.

I don't think Saturn BC would work though ... it was pretty crazy hardware wise.

I don't know anything about the dreamcast, but this was very funny. I can get some duck or chicken feathers, or if you are willing to wait, swan feathers.

This

Also the rest of the TC's points are pretty flimsy. As has already been pointed out, Die Hard Arcade (or Dynamite Deka) got a sequel in the form of Dynamite Cop and the system in fact did have a light gun peripheral.

Also, it seems pretty silly to complain about a primitive online service when the Dreamcast was the first ever console to feature built in online connectivity. That Sega even managed to get the games to run properly with a 28k modem is a testament to some of the brilliant programmers who worked at Sega.

I do remember Capcom releasing lots of great games for the system during its lifespan. Off the top of my head Marvel vs Capcom 1 & 2, Capcom vs SNK 1 & 2, Power Stone 1 & 2, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Dino Crisis and Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

I think part of the reason Capcom were so Sega-friendly back in the day was because many of their best arcade games ran on either Sega's Titan/STV hardware or the later Sega NAOMI.

I've spent years arguing points like this. But I am past it now. The DC died early for many reasons, but none of the ones you listed. But that's not the point. The point is it's dead, and Sonic died with it. Move on

Was any of the items in that list an advantage PS2 had and the DreamCast didn't? I mean, you have to take into account what it was back then and what the competition had.

Otherwise you're blaming them for things they couldn't foresee. It would be like saying "the dreamcast failed because it didn't have HD output and motion controls" ...
