Start/Select has got word that gamecube titles are coming towards Wii U's Wiiware.

Quote

"Gamecube disc will not be compatible with Wii U, but a number of the games playable on the gamecube can be downloaded from Wiiware."

LINK

So what games do you want to see the Wii U get? I want SSBM and Zelda.

Considering I have a Gamecube and the Wii is backwards compatibile I don't think there are really any games I'd want on Wii U Wiiware since I own what I want already.:P

You were only going to get a wii U for gamecube games? Why not just get a $30 GC from gamestop?

Better be no more than $10 and offer full HD-upscaling.

the Wii U doesn't upscale Wii games so it probably won't for the Gamecube either. I would rather have backwards capabilities than this though

I'm keeping my Wii around even after I buy a WiiU so there's no need to re-buy Gamecube games for me.

I would like BC rather as well, unless they put the expensive GC games on there like Pikmin 2 so you wouldn't have to pay $50 on eBay for it.

You were only going to get a wii U for gamecube games? Why not just get a $30 GC from gamestop?

The problem with using an original Gamecube is that the component cables for it are so darn expensive... they cost around $100 used [link]. And who wants to play games on a composite cable in this day and age?

Granted, he could just buy a Wii and a component cable for that, problem solved. But I suppose if someone was hoping to skip the Wii and just buy a Wii U, it's disappointing. Also there's the issue of clutter -- if people still actively play Gamecube games, now they'll have to keep their Gamecube/Wii on the shelf next to the Wii U. But that's really just a minor inconvenience.

I don't understand why Nintendo took out BC anyway. It's not like the PS3, which had to include an entirely different CPU and GPU to play PS2 games. If the Wii U is hardware BC with the Wii, it should be hardware BC with the Gamecube... but Nintendo just arbitrarily decided not to support Gamecube discs in order to, apparently, sell Gamecube games on Wiiware. :|

Eternal Darkness... this is the only game Im missing from my collection...

I could see this game being released as a hype for the rumored Eternal Darkness II, supposedly being Retro's secret project.

This sounds good, I only hope Nintendo does a better job with the Gamecube than they did with the N64. Seriously, why are there only twenty N64 games on the Virtual Console right now?

What? The sequel/prequel/whatever was awesome...I just think it fell below most people's radars because it was the penultimate GC game released that was worth a damn, and most had moved on by then.

was it? i skipped the game because it seemed like they lopped off half the combat system and sprited up the characters.

Well, I'm keeping my Wii anyways because Nintendo is horrible with digital rights, I can't transfer my many many Wii VC or WiiWare titles so it'll be like throwing lots of money away to sell it or trade up with it, Nintendo will probably keep this up with the Wii U so I'm not going to bother digitally buying games I can't retain rights to. I pretty much got every GC game I wanted used since GC games are cheap and easy to get these days used.

This means Wii games will be software emulated or Nintendo is just being greedy, if Wii U contains Wii architecture then Gamecube games should run fine on it. Either way its a nice feature but I still have all my favourite Gamecube games.

Now they just need some way to plug in Gamecube contollers, or even release a new wireless Gamecube controller compatibale with the Wii U.

Why is Gamecube controller compatibility SO important for it? I know they are Gamecube games, but I agree with Foxhound about CCPro being much better.
