What are your thoughts.....

for me, sequesl come way to fast now a days, with the average sequel coming only a year after the original. For someone like me on a budget this...JUST PLAIN STINKS!! I want to play the next installment, but if every month there is a sequel to a game i just beat not too long ago it gets frustrating. I also think that a sequel would be more appreciated and feel less repetitive if it came out a while after. For example, I am enjoying MW2 right now like there is no tomorrow. However, I already fel frustrated that come november , MW2 will be outdated and i have to pull out 60 dollars for a game that is at least 75% the same as the one before it. Same goes for batman arkham asylum, the sports games, fallout3 (everyone is still catching up with the expansions!) and so on.

Assassins Creed 2 i think represented a good span between one game and its sequel. When AC2 came out, i felt the gameplay was fresher because i hadnt played AC1 in ages. Also, i think GOW3 is being a good example , since it is coming now and the last one was like agesago!!! Therefore, i feel i can really appreciate this next GOW

I agree, Gears 2 for shame... (nods head) Sometimes developers just need to take some time and try not to rush the product out before a certain release date.

I think 2 years is a good amount of time for a sequel, considering much of the work for the sequel (engine development) is done for the first game...

sure, i will argue it

1) nobody cares what most of the people who complain about guitar hero think

2) if people are willing to buy your game there is no reason not to release it as quickly as possible

3) whether you can keep up with the release of sequels is irrelevant to the company as others are obviously buying their games

personally i figure the faster sequels to my favourites games come out the better. there literally no downside outside rushed development, which is more the fault of bad developers relying on post release patching.

I agree with you regarding CoD and Gears of War. Sometimes I wish that sequels would come faster aka Half-Life 2 Episode 3. Valve drives me crazy but they always have spectacular games.

Ha, nice joke. Theres no downside except a worse product.

Okay, you can argue, but what I meant was a good argument. I could easily counter the first argument with "Nobody cares what most people who don't complain about Guitar Hero think". It really means nothing. Obviously you cared enough to make a counter argument. As for number two, have you not noticed the declining sales in Guitar Hero. It's called market saturation. Number three and two go hand in hand.

i can see why you might not mind batman.. the story was short but very fresh and thriling, so hopefully the new game's devs will put their skills to work and ake the next game just as fresh

guitar hero, sports games, and NON-IW Cods bug me. You could simply put out new tracks online like rock band 2. The same for sports games which could just update rosters.

A two - three year gap is lovely, just right. Assassin's Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Mario Galaxy 2, are some of my favourite/most anticipated games. They had a nice gap in between, leaving me just about ready for more, while giving the developers time to make awesome games.

The only complaint I will have for a quick released sequel is if the quality has not improved much over it's predecessor. However for me, the franchises that I buy have given me plenty of time in between to save up for the next game. I bought MW1 and waited 2 years till MW2; Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank are also games that I bought and had a two year wait in between sequels. Honestly only overly milked franchises like Sports games, Guitar Hero type games and some FPS like COD have sequels every year and I don't buy those on a yearly basis at all.

yeah, i agree, and my main issue is the COD tradition of annual sequels.... i will not be upset if the 2010 one is just a different war from the textbooks, but if it is MW3 i will be angry (and you wont like me when i am angry lol)

I agree, If sequels come out to fast, they won't be that great.

I think that Duke Nukem Forever will be the greatest game to ever be released :) 12 years and counting :P
