One of the features that MS has mentioned is the reduction of input latency. Here is the results comparing Gears 5 on the X1X @60fps to the XSX at both 60fps and 120 fps

This is the kind next-gen consoles where input latency is very important. Good to hear this news coming from XSX.

NVDIDIA ?

Not sure how it relates. GPU is AMD based in the XSX

Pretty sure they came up first with technology to decouple rendering from input latency. MS being the creator of DX/Windows got the idea from them.

@pc_rocks: are you talking about this? https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/reflex-low-latency-platform/

If so, then that is a Sept 1, 2020 dated article

That's great - latency makes games so frustrating, even when they don't depend on quick reflexes

That they copy from Nvidia specifically, no. But for who did it first sure, it's Nvidia just like they are the first to do RT, Compute etc etc.

Not really because it's just a new marketing spin due to a complete suite with 360Hz, G-Sync etc etc. I think Nvidia included low latency mode in drivers settings as far back as 900 series or even earlier.

It is talking about the time lag between when you press your controller button to when things happen on the screen (online or single player). Basically the lower the number the more precise the character on the screen reacts when you press a button.

Online lag where the internet is causing an uneven stream quality is a totally different beast

yeah I just always thought it had something to do with the internet lag if I'm on online.

never have notice response time of my controllers being bad or delays. not saying this is not good for series x owners its just something I never noticed or think i died online because of it.

this is why I like both consoles. each one offers different features. like the 3d audio and new controller features on the controller and faster loading. the other more powerful and has different advantages over the other. I just like the new features of the ps5 that attracts me more. but i will have both.

^Latency is something you don't think its there until you try something that has less of it

Its very good they're focusing on improving this on consoles!

That's certainly a good thing to have. Has Sony even hinted at having something similar? I don't recall.

yeah.. we become accustomed to something until we try something better.

I thought my first big screen rear projection TV (was it 480p??) had an amazing picture until I bought a 720p TV then a 1080p TV then a 4K TV

@Zero_epyon: wireless dualshock 4 has the least amount of input lag out of all other controllers. I'm sure that will continue.

that is good why to put it the both of you. it's not something you notice because its the norm. but its good xbox is working on this for future gaming.

The thing is with this test the controller was hooked up to a PC running rocket league at 100fps. Without knowing the specs of the PC, we can only say that the controller is somewhat fast, but the controller itself is only part of the equation. Put that controller back on the PS4 and the input lag might likely be much higher.

@Zero_epyon: I'm sure it runs the same or better on something it was designed to be used on.

That isn't always the case. Especially when stuff like this comes down to processing power.

MS made the technology available to developers since November of 2019.

Of course you guys feel no latency, you need gameplay for that, not a Sony's specialty LOL.

Xbox has been touting this a very long time for next generation. Nice to see the improvement is noticeable. This is huge for competitive games.

I don't get this gameplay crap. the only movie game are game like Detroit become human. ever sense that game everyone was saying all sony games are movie games.

Sorry you don't like story's in your games. mafia is a movie game to you know because it has a lot of cut scenes.

Nvidia has low latency configuration in driver settings from as early as Maxwell. Don't know about AMD because haven't used their GPU since 2009-2010.

Never noticed latency issues on controllers but it seems DS4 is one of the better ones. Something about higher polling rate and better on bluetooth than wired as well (WHAT?)
