Serious Question: Why are Nintendo ruining Zelda like this?

To me the Zelda formula was already stale but they just keep sinking it deeper and deeper. First a full blown rehash on handhelds, then an unnecessary "remake" and now a Dynasty Warriors rip-off... Lol. No wonder the Wii U is doing so bad.

Honestly, I think the game has potential. And, hey, it's Zelda in a very different form than what we're all used to. At the very least, it'll be an interesting experiment to see if it can come close to the quality of the series (albeit in a different way).

Just do away with the Skyward Sword enemy designs. I'd like more or a Majora's Mask or Twilight Princess approach, or, hell, even wind waker. I jsut didn't feel the Bokoblins or whatever the hell they're called from SS were really that good. I don't mind cartoony, but they were almost too cartoony if that makes sense.

Also Zelda just won GOTY so yeah...boo hoo. A silly spin off isn't going to kill it and the fact they're currently calling it "Hyrule Warriors" shows they're smart enough to not just stick "The Legend of Zelda" onto anything and everything.

And yeah people who keep saying that Mario and Zelda are dead are fucking morons. Mario just released the most acclaimed game in the series since Galaxy 2, and, as you said, zelda just won GOTY. If I'm not mistaken, thsoe are both signs that the series are as strong or stronger than they've ever been.

I never continued playing Awakening, but it makes much more sense than doing a Hyrule Warriors.

I will say that the difference between other Zelda Spin-offs and this one is it is being massively advertised to push wii u sales and get people excited for more zelda, so more people will see this and it could backfire the, unike other Zelda spin-offs which were just release with little to no big advertising.

Man that overwhelmingly positive response to the most recent Zelda game saying it's the best the series has been in years kind of puts a wrench in your statement.

It's not trolling, Fire Emblem was a Game based on Political warfare and gave you limited supplies and no grinding and you couldn't team up with your team mates to become OP as hell.

Play Radiant Dawn in hard and realize Fire Emblem was supposed to be strategy not a turn based beat them up RPG(That's what awakening feels like). Hard is probably too hard though, play it in normal. It'll still be a huge skill cap difference.

You can get away with one, but each time you do it, the effect worsens.

He didn't. I recall several people calling for Nintendo to let Platinum develop a Star Fox until Kamiya backed out of the idea (which is what he started when he admitted he wanted to make a damn game in the absent series sometime before).

wth? i never had that sig, you have me confused for some other member. + I never seen that anime. And it does have it, it also has a lot of things that make no sense in the game but everyone has their own tastes.

It is over. Nintendo isn't ruining this series. People argue that Nintendo is ruining Mario and Zelda and such because they milk those games so much.

What I see is that Nintendo released a Zelda and Mario game this year that were top quality and among the best of the series.

Yeah, sure, this Zelda game isn't looking very good to many people. But it's a niche game for a niche group of people, I don't see the problem with it not looking good to many people. Not all games should appeal to everyone, not every spin off should appeal to the main fanbase (MGS - MGR Revengeance for example)

There were threads about it years ago and even Kamiya's followers on Twitter bugged him about it up until this point.

Sadly for me yea, this is how fire emblem is going to be like from now on most likely. One of my favorite franchises and I won't enjoy it no more if this is how it's going to be, Sucks for me awesome sauce for those that do i suppose.

It's not ruining Zelda, how does a Warriors game ruin Zelda? and how is it a rip off of dynasty warriors when it is part of that series? Also from Nintendo's stand point it isn't a bad idea because those games sell in japan and Nintendo mostly cares about that market.

I agree that it looks crap.

But I don't think it's ruining the brand. If it's not named as part of the main series ("The Legend of Zelda: ...") I think it will be fine. If it bombs, then nobody will care and we'll get our Wii U Zelda sometime later.

In general I think it's a good thing to experiment with things like this anyway.

I wouldn't call it a Warriors rip-off either, because it's supposed to be like that. It's a Warriors x Zelda game. It's not disguising itself as something else.

Because the Zelda series is commercially and critically acclaimed with a consumer base willing to buy anything adorned with the Zelda logo. Nintendo, a business, recognizes Zelda's popularity and has decided to create a spinoff title which will probably cost little to develop and ultimately generate profits because that's what a business cares about. If this title somehow offends or disgusts you, then you, the consumer, can choose not to buy it.
