Ok look I've been reading some post, and there are a lot of weird lies and excuses going around so I'm going to organize this post.
The Elite Xbox is 480$ (includes 120GB, HDMI)
The Lower model PS3 is $500 (includes 20gb, HDMI)
The High End model Ps3 is $600 (includes 60gb, HDMI)
Now let me set one thing straight about the GB. You will end up hurting yourself if you really believe that 120GB is worth around 180$. The 1-up podcast talks about this very issue, of gouging the customer.
This is essentially ripping off the customer. It has no Wi-fi or high definition player within the elite model.
1. Wi-fi is essential for bigger houses, so as to not have to deal with setting up the ethernet cable in another room. An inconveniece
2. The HD-DVD player is 200$ for the Xbox360, and without HDMI, your picture will be put down to 480p.
Now here comes the hard part for people to understand. You WILL need to get the Elite version or your picture will be downgraded to 480p. This is because the other models way of handling the HD WILL BE LOCKED OUT. You WILL NOT get the better picture once this standard regulation goes into practice. This is essentially why MS released this new model, but decided to gouge (it's true, it's a pure rip-off to the early adopters) That is UNLESS MS has a plan with High Def movies onto your Hard Drive to keep the picture. But essentially all those HD-DVD player adopters are screwed unless they have the elite model.
