Shadow of The Colossus - one of the biggest disappointments ever

Damn you all for making me think that this game was going to be amazing. Went in expecting some marvelous artistic achievement on the same level as something like Nier or Demon's Souls and what I got instead was this big, boring, empty world, horrific controls, and an equally horrific camera. Playing this was a straight up chore. I'm very disappointed considering I usually fall head over heels for thess types of games. 6.5

Considering that I've been wanting to play this game for years and had so much built up hype, for me it is.

You kidding? The game is incredibly easy. The only real difficult moments were battling with the ancient controls and camera.

I was dissapointed by how short it was. Wandering around the empty world wasn't all that fun.

I played for about 20 minutes before getting mind numbingly bored with it. One could argue that it is not enough time to truly enjoy the game, but everything about the game screamed uninteresting and bland; enough to make me not compelled to even attempt to try and like it. Different strokes for different folks.

I didn't care for Ico at all either.

So not alone TC. But I never hyped it or anything.

Great game, but a bit over-rated considering there are a lot of folks who think it's the best game ever made. I think people get too caught up in the emotion of the story.

I'm hoping they remake the game for next generation consoles, that's one game I never got to play.

Ok first off this is definite attention seeking like most others round here because it's not SW material. just a thought by a single user but ok.

Secondly SotC is possibly the greatest game ever made in my eyes, but then again I didn't have anyone hyping the game so I went in with no expectations and was blown away. And I knew when the HD collection was coming out and all the hype and praise the games were getting someone like you was gonna come along and say they hated it and it was a huge let down. But you are entitled to your opinion, you can hate it all you want, I think it's stunning and will always be at the top of my list of all time greats.

Also a "big empty world" is sort of the point. It's the forbidden land where no one is allowed go, and they wanted to give you a bond with your horse and feel lonely other than him. It pretty much nailed what it wanted to do

I didn't even think the story was all that great. Nothing significant happend until the final colossus, 8 flipping hours into the game.

Demon's Souls? Good art design? LOL

Couldn't disagree more. The controls and camera are awful, and there's virtually no plot to speak of. The only two things holding SoTC together are the colossus fights and atmosphere, which I will admit are terrific, but it's all been done better in numerous other games (God of War series, Souls series, Nier, etc). And just because a world is big and empty doesn't mean it has to be BORING.

So you hyped yourself for years because you couldn't afford to buy a 7 dollar game and then you say it's the biggest disappointment ?:roll: at least try to be believable.

You wanna know what's disappointing ? Final Fantasy 13, had low expectations and deciding to give it a try and it still disappointed. That's actual disappointment.

TC says it was a chore to play... give me a break, he gave MGS4 a 10/10, if SoTC is a chore then MGS4 is somewhere in the realm of indenchured servitudelamprey263

MGS4 actually had a plot, with 3 dimensional characters, and there was a lot more to the gameplay than just "ride horse to boss, fight boss." It wasn't a nightmare to control either.
