DONT buy a 2900, it is about equal to the 8800GTS which is like $100 less, and its loud and puts out serious heat. it gets horrible reviews. PS3 is up to you, take a look at the games and see if you would like the ones they will put out. personally i did both.

a ps3 is not worth it atm. perhaps near the holidays and end of the year, however.

PC, PC already a huge library of games (some games dirt cheap as well) and with Crysis (and other games) on the horizon why not upgrade?

Don't get a 2900. Depending on what resolution you get, Go for a 8800GTS for lower resolutions or a 8800GTX for higher resolutions (specifically 1900x1200+).

Honestly I would wait towards the holidys to cop anything new. Price drops and more games will be avaliable. Your 7900 is good for now cause there arent really any DX 10 games out. When they do come out later this year / early next year I would recommend updating to a 8800gts or 8800xtx. U might wanna look into a quad core processor too. Intel is said to be dropping prices on their quad Kentsfields this summer and Pendry ( i can never spell thaht right..lol) is suppose to come out. If money isnt an object I am hearing Pendry will bethe way to go.

Getting a Kentsfield for like $300 or less aint bad at all man for a quad core. Plus the 8800s and 2900's are already dropping in price so by the holidays u might be able to cop one for say $300. But again if money isnt an object the 8900s might be dropping by xmas too so u could cop one of those instead.Basically u gonna spend $600 on hardware which is bout how much the ps3 costs. Although rumor has it that the ps3 might see a drop in price too so best to wait. But its on whats yur tastes. But again I would wait a bit before any major purchase.

and yea upgrade yur monitor. U are gonna want higher res if u start messing with 8800s or a 2900. I did hear with the new drivers the 2900's are benching much better then when they dropped. The heat issue...I mean dats Ati. Come on. The card has flames on it. That shoud tip u off at how hot the bastard gets. lol.

Jeez, you can be berated by hardware nuts as much as you want, but the fact is, unless you're a graphics nut, there is simply no reason to upgrade your PC at the moment.

There are plenty of games on the horizon for th PC, I guess, but they can all be played with a midrange card at medium settings such that they run at decent framerates. Games aren't about the graphics, they're about the fun.

I'm a playstation nut myself, but in the end, what it comes down to is - your buying a gfx card (if you're replacing a decent one with a flagship model) does not expand your gaming experience one bit. Plus, chances are, unless you're very much into very large scale, mouse controlled strategy games (sup com, world in conflict, etc) and FPSs, and nothing else, you're wasting your money.

You dont need to go for a PS3, but go for a console in general. Buying a gfx card opens up your gaming possibilities to what? 10 more games? Buying a console opens your options to 100+ games by 1st quarter next year no matter which you pick.

And these include FPSs, RPGs, Racing games, casual games, and even a very high profile strategy game (End War).

PCs are the domain of graphics wh**es, please make the right choice.

As for which console to buy, research the type of games you like on each console before taking your pic. Whichever way you go, consoles simply have more AAA titles per year each than the PC, no matter what.

Also note that the vast majority of games are multi-platform, so that amazing FPS / whatever you're looking forward to is also coming out on the consoles, and chances are you'll be getting a higher and more stable framerate to boot.

well, by your logic, why buy anything but a PS2? most games out, can just enjoy those, who cares about graphics right? and for reference i own a PS3 and gaming PC. actually PC has more top rated titles, just how it is. PC has plenty of quality games coming out, Crysis will destroy anything on any console, period.

Agreed, PC should always come first, consoles second.
