Where is this franchise going to go now? Mario has now been in space. Nintendo made Super Mario World, Super Mario Galaxy. What's next? Super Mario Universe? it seems that when nintendo runs out of ideas they just do a mario 'insert sport name here', but since mario has also played every dam sport.....

Just because we cannot fathom a new and intersting way to keep mario relevent doesn't mean one doesn't exist.

If there is one, miyamoto will find it. This question is better poised to him, but that is pretty obvious. Not that it's not fun to speculate, but the lack of imagination(if that is the case) does not suggest it cannot happen.

I will add, though, that the day we(and by we i mean nintendo) run out of ideas for making terribly fun mario games is the day the games industry, nay humanity, dies :D

I predict the next mario will be a sequel to mario galaxy - he's already shown interest in this. As such, it won't seem as innovative, but it will be better that i do not doubt. The mario after that, for Wii2, might see mario with more intesive multiplayer, maybe have him cross dimensions?! Maybe a religious undertone?! :D

Theres plenty of places. Mario dungeons, Mario underwater, mario in the swiss alps. I'm just throwing stuff out there. mario fishing, mario fights terrorism, mario pirates

Or they could take it back to the SEWERS. Many of the current and future gamers dont even remember the roots. yeah, mario is a plumber, why not make a game in the sewers

Who knows. Years before Galaxy was released do you think anyone would have guessed how that game would turn out? And the same thing years before Mario 64 was released?

imo Super Mario 64 was miles ahead of SMG. SMG was cute but not nearly as great as SM64. They need to make the next one more like SM64. Massive lands not tiny planets. I like big levels often.beinss

although mario 64 is not my type of game - it had a massive wow factor, and nintendo magic to make me enjoy it.

I praise nintendo for constantly being able to make something out of nothing - and not just anything either, but stand out titles.

heh. that wasnt even a real Super Mario Bros game. it was a different game in japan, thats why the mechanics are so different from any other Mario Game. all they did was replace the sprites with Mario Bros characters

Galaxy contains bigger worlds than 64 its just that each world is made up of tiny planets, which doesn't really take anything away from the game in fact it make it a hell of a lot more fun.

you see, we already have one of them for download and the other at retail, and nintendo will either top it or make one at least on par. I've yet to play a 3-D Mario that could touch Mario 64, and none of the 2-D Marios have matched Mario World (although I know a lot of people prefer Yoshi's Island), and in fact, I'm not sure I ever will. However, it's always interesting to see what Nintendo has up their sleeve...SeanBond
