It seems like it SHOULD BE NINTENDO having the best E3, with SMG, SSBB, MP3, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on the horizon...but I have a bad feeling Sony will shine this year.  Remember, the game industry ebbs and flows constantly.  It is a swinging pendulum.  Sony's reign of negativity will most likely come to an end at E3.  Sony had the worst E3 in a long time last year...it won't happen this time.  Why?  Because I think Sony might actually be humbled for once.  This will help Sony focus.  Nintendo, on the other hand, is showing signs that their arrogance is returning...and this may hurt them.  It will go like this....

DOMINATORS OF E3

1. Sony

2. Microsoft

3. Nintendo :?

Sheep need to be prepared...the extreme Nintendo arrogance is coming back (like during the N64 era), and it may not be pretty.  Last time Nintendo got this arrogant, they made many mistakes.  I hope I'm wrong...but after George Harrison saying 35 million Wiis in the U.S. alone by 2012...and with Reggie-Fils Aime attacking Sony relentlessly and bragging over and over about sales, I think the "N64esque" arrogance is returning.   Like I said...I hope I'm wrong.

With all the hype and sales over these past few months the wii is gonna make another splash at E3 this year. Microsoft will come second and Sony distant third.

Ps3 may have the worst, and Xbox360 could have the best if they show Halo 3's single player campaign.

I think sony blew their load with that gamer's day event in order to get some hype for their system.  The wii, on the other hand, went low key, probably because they have too much hype now as it is.  We pretty much have zero new info on the major games at this point, or what's on the horizon.  If nintendo actually does some showing off at e3, I think they will win it.

Reggie comes in as the REGGINATOR, with mock Gun and rocket launcher. That will make anything from Sony or M$ look trivial, and will be the main talking point of this year. Developers will notice, and more will jump on the Nintendo bandwagon.

1. I don't know why you are sorry, it's N's fault if they fail. 2. I don't understand what you are saying about WHY they will do bad. It seems that you are saying that just because they have been doing well, they will do bad.

If Nintendo shows new software in the works, they'll do fine, if not then the fan backlash could immense.

So you're saying Nintendo will have a bad E3 despite the fact that they have a lot of amazing games coming just because Reggie made a few remarks that you perceive as arrogant?

You sure have me convinced

I'm saying this, because there seem to be signs pointing to the "Nintendo arrogance" returning.  When Nintendo has gotten extremely arrogant in the past, it has come back to bite them.

"Gamers don't want online" Nintendo once said.  Then the whole N64 debacle of having expensive cartridge format.  Many 3rd parties hated it, and left N64 behind.  Sony is as arrogant now as Nintendo once was, and look what has happened to them.  The difference this time though, is that PS3 is selling so poorly, that Sony may be humbled (which is something they need) and may rectify the situation.  N64 didn't sell all that poorly, so it took awhile for Nintendo to be humbled.   Nintendo themselves didn't expect Wii to sell this well.  And because of this, I think this will put Nintendo back into the "arrogance" mode that was present during the N64 era, when they thought nothing could stop them.  And when Nintendo gets that arrogant, it is time to say "uh oh" because Nintendo makes A LOT OF MISTAKES when they get to that point, just like Sony is now...

Nintendos not being arrogant there just telling ppl the truth. : Sonys flop sales and nintendos rising sales are a fact. 35 million wii in the us by 2012 is a very realistic number if the wii keeps up the momentum like the ds did. Saying things like this generation dosent start until we say it does is arrogant and stupid.

I know the history behind that one. They wanted to stay cartridge because they feared CDs would be pirated too easily. This is also why they used mini-disks on the GC. They waited until now to do full CDs because now there is good enough technology to mostly prevent pirating in that form. The reason a lot of devs. left was because SONY lied to Squaresoft telling them that they could do extremely well if they came to them, and square did. They then proceeded to bash Nintendo and the 64 and told other devs. to join them. After that generation was done, square made a formal appology stating all of this. At least that is what I remember, I may have to go back and read my tome of gaming history.

jedigemini

Yes, I think Nintendo will have the worst E3.  They are doing well with Wii sales, and may not feel the need to prepare much for E3.  It seems like it will be predictable too...Yes, Zelda: PH is coming.  Yes, SSBB is coming.  Yes, MP3 is coming.  OK?  We know that.  I think the speech Reggie will give is going to sound real "high and mighty".  It will sound "arrogant", but to an extreme level...just like Sony.  Remember the arrogance Sony displayed, stating ridiculous statements like "gamers will buy PS3 even without games".  Nintendo will most likely make arrogant claims as well this time around.

Sony is put in a corner.  They know full well that PS3 isn't selling nearly as well as they thought it would.  They are most likely preparing for this E3 harder than they ever have in a looooong time.  Sony is in "flight or fight" mode...and I think they will fight.  Nintendo is in "we are beating Sony easily" mode.

Remember what happened when Nintendo got humble and took a risk with Wii?  They had one of the greatest E3 events ever.  They prepared hard for the event, because Nintendo knew full well that Gamecube didn't sell very well, and they were in "flight or fight" mode with Wii.  Nintendo came out swinging, and had a fantastic E3.  Does Nintendo feel like they really have to try this go round at E3?  No.  Sony, on the other hand, is preparing to fight.  They know their E3 last year BOMBED.  They will not let that happen this go round.  Too much is riding at stake for Sony, and they know it.

Haziqonfire

That's true.

In his very first appearence in E3 2004, he made fun of the other companies by saying:

There is a company where they want you to put hundreds of high resolution photos, view widescreen full-length movies, play music, and play console quality games and revolove your whole life around and put it all in their memory sticks.

laughter from the audience

The other company doesn't care what you do. As long as you do it on their operating system.

crowd laughs and cheers

That's his way of presenting.

He is just like Sony, except he doesn't say stupid and false stuff.

Nintendo didn't LOSE 2 BILLION DOLLARS IN ITS GAMING SECTOR either!  Yes, Sony will rebound quicker than Nintendo, because THEY HAVE TO!  They have too much riding at stake with PS3...too much money invested, Blu-Ray format, etc.  There is just too much at stake.  Remember when Nintendo was backed into a corner?  GC didn't sell well.

Nintendo had to do something to compete.  They got humbled, took a risk, and made Wii.  Sony is going to be humbled VERY QUICKLY, because they are losing too much money in their gaming division too quickly and PS3 is bombing in sales.  They HAVE TO HAVE A GREAT E3.

When backed into a corner...a lot of times, great things will come from it.  Batman and Robin sucked!  Studios knew that the franchise had lost a ton of appeal because people hated the movie.  They were humbled.  So, what happened?  They took an entirely diffent approach and made one of the best superhero movies ever...Batman Begins.  It is amazing what organizations will do when they feel like they are backed into a corner.   Sony is in this mode right now.  They have to do something...

Well, because it seems like he's presenting his feelings as logic.

I feel that because Nintendo has been arrogant in the past and they're selling so well that they will now flop at E3.

It's just not good enough.  The problem isn't faulty logic, it's just a misrepresentation.

Sometimes even your best isn't good enough.

I'm saying this, because there seem to be signs pointing to the "Nintendo arrogance" returning.  When Nintendo has gotten extremely arrogant in the past, it has come back to bite them.

Even if what you're saying had some merit.... it would take MUCH longer than a few months of slow sales for a console manufacturer to produce new games, pherials, media ect. that will get fans excited again. This is the real world.

Oh, I know...it won't happen in just a few months.  However, I do think this E3 might be the pendulum swinging back in Sony's direction.  They are backed into a corner, and their arrogance should be gone.  This will help them.  It may take a couple of years for PS3 to become a success though.  It will take time...but Sony KNOWS they have to do something...whether it be price drop (although that will cause them to lose EVEN MORE money on the gaming division) or something.

E3...who cares the industry is getting rid of like 90% of E3 anyway. news flash E3 isn't going to be the same anymore, E3 is not going to be the huge press event, convention, anymore.

BTW If I believed any predictions on these boards I might go kill myself for being such an idiot. Face it, SW is not good at predicting anything

So you are basically saying that only Sony learn from their mistakes?

And as for the comment somebody made about no new IP's, im pretty sure they will be showing off Project H.AM.M.E.R and Disaster: Day of Crisis. Even if theyre not, they are in the middle of a drive to create new IP's anyway, so it's bound to include them.

So the wii got new infos on MEtroid, SSBB, Super Mario Galaxy, 3 of the top franchise in the gaming industry and it will have a bad E3, without counting a probability of a new Zelda? Square-Enix game (Although this applies for all 3 consoles) anyways.

If Nintendo releases more characters for Brawl and confrims that it will use the GC or Classic Controller= Nintendo's instant win.  Execpt if Microsoft shows off something big about Halo.

I'm not so sure. I mean they won't blow our minds but they'll show the games we've been waiting for (Mario, Metroid, Zelda) as well as the ones we've been curious about (Disaster, HAMMER) and maybe some new ones (Mario KArt?)

Again not great but good enough to keep us excited.

So you're saying Nintendo will have a bad E3 despite the fact that they have a lot of amazing games coming just because Reggie made a few remarks that you perceive as arrogant?

You sure have me convinced

AvIdGaMeR444

All this is based on assumptions and possibilities, not real hard fact. How can you predict the behaviour of a major games company? You cant.

Nintendo is being arrogant, they are being hopeful.  If they were arrogant they'd be rubbing the sales in the competition's faces (which is what I would be doing).  Besides, they have remained dignified throughout the past few months and have been very respect worthy, and they deserve some time to gloat after having been an underdog for so long.

Also, E3 is always unpredictable.  IE. who would have thought that Wii would have ended up being as popular as it was at E3 last year?

What happened to the whole "No more E3"?

wasn't it cancelled?

also...Nintendo just has a way to show you...they'll come up with a more innovative way to use the wii while The PS3 will sit there and take in more money then the soda machines

So becouse it's been doing well, it will do bad.....for some reason, and becouse sony has been doing badly, it'll do well.....for some reason.

Whether a company is supposedly arrogant or not, Nintendo has the best sales, so there has been a 3rd development shift towards the system, and because Sony has done badly, developers will naturally move away from the system, so going by games, it's likely to be a repeat of last year.
