I don't understand what you are saying about WHY they will do bad. It seems that you are saying that just because they have been doing well, they will do bad.jedigemini
I'm saying this, because there seem to be signs pointing to the "Nintendo arrogance" returning. When Nintendo has gotten extremely arrogant in the past, it has come back to bite them.
"Gamers don't want online" Nintendo once said. Then the whole N64 debacle of having expensive cartridge format. Many 3rd parties hated it, and left N64 behind. Sony is as arrogant now as Nintendo once was, and look what has happened to them. The difference this time though, is that PS3 is selling so poorly, that Sony may be humbled (which is something they need) and may rectify the situation. N64 didn't sell all that poorly, so it took awhile for Nintendo to be humbled. Nintendo themselves didn't expect Wii to sell this well. And because of this, I think this will put Nintendo back into the "arrogance" mode that was present during the N64 era, when they thought nothing could stop them. And when Nintendo gets that arrogant, it is time to say "uh oh" because Nintendo makes A LOT OF MISTAKES when they get to that point, just like Sony is now...
You sound more delusional than anything. Nintendo did get arrogant, and it cost them 2 losing generations... do you really think Sony is going to rebound in 6 months?Nintendo didn't LOSE 2 BILLION DOLLARS IN ITS GAMING SECTOR either! Yes, Sony will rebound quicker than Nintendo, because THEY HAVE TO! They have too much riding at stake with PS3...too much money invested, Blu-Ray format, etc. There is just too much at stake. Remember when Nintendo was backed into a corner? GC didn't sell well.
Nintendo had to do something to compete. They got humbled, took a risk, and made Wii. Sony is going to be humbled VERY QUICKLY, because they are losing too much money in their gaming division too quickly and PS3 is bombing in sales. They HAVE TO HAVE A GREAT E3.
When backed into a corner...a lot of times, great things will come from it. Batman and Robin sucked! Studios knew that the franchise had lost a ton of appeal because people hated the movie. They were humbled. So, what happened? They took an entirely diffent approach and made one of the best superhero movies ever...Batman Begins. It is amazing what organizations will do when they feel like they are backed into a corner. Sony is in this mode right now. They have to do something...
Even if what you're saying had some merit.... it would take MUCH longer than a few months of slow sales for a console manufacturer to produce new games, pherials, media ect. that will get fans excited again. This is the real world. Oh, I know...it won't happen in just a few months. However, I do think this E3 might be the pendulum swinging back in Sony's direction. They are backed into a corner, and their arrogance should be gone. This will help them. It may take a couple of years for PS3 to become a success though. It will take time...but Sony KNOWS they have to do something...whether it be price drop (although that will cause them to lose EVEN MORE money on the gaming division) or something.
