When it comes to Shenmue, I'll have to see it to believe it. It's not one of my favorite SEGA franchises, but I have friends that absolutely LOVE it, and I've seen them broken hearted over Shenmue III related news too many times, lol.
Without ever playing a Shenmue game, I see no reason to get excited over this one. Maybe if they included copies of the first two so people like me can catch up and understand the story, then I might have some interest.

It may be something but I really doubt it,over the course of the last decade we had even more blatant signals that Shenmue 3 was about to happen and it never did. It gathers ever so more excitement from the Shenmue community but it always ends up the same way,don´t get your hopes up,I know I don´t anymore.
I don't understand why should I be excited about a Japanese version of GTA. Times have changed. Perhaps Senmue was impressive 13 years ago, but now, with so many sandbox games released, Assasin Creed , GTAV, etc, I doubt that they will make any revolution.
Oh yeh, and if consolites think that this will be console exclusive, Sega has become a PC publisher.

The only way I see Shenmue 3 happening is if one of the console makers backs the project financially,and if that happens it will almost certainly be exclusive to one of the consoles,sega themselves aren´t gonna develop the game with their own money,they made that all too clear already. Other than that,kickstarter/crowdfunding is the only other way,but it would never reach anywhere near the ammount of money a game like Shenmue 3 would need,and that would be the only way to see it on the PC.

did you like Grim Fandango? Then Shenmue is pretty much the same thing but with many more ways to interact with the world around you. It's like a fusion between Grim Fandango with Yakuza series to be more specific. And not to mention that the music in this series is nothing short of spectacular.
