I played through Shenmue the day it came out, and I loved it. I still haven't played Shenmue 2, I've been meaning to pick it up. Shenmue was such an amazing game, and was really one of the first games to incorporate QTE's in a 3D world like that. L.A. Noire reminded me so much of Shenmue it isn't even funny. It's one of the main reasons why L.A. Noire was one of my favorite games of 2011, there were so many similarities to Shenmue, which is in a long list of one of my favorite games of all time. I still have a mint condition Dreamcast copy of it.
The sequel is also done,apparently.[QUOTE="Arach666"][QUOTE="CLOUDsea"]
Now port 2.

Almost time to sell my Dreamcast then.
Yeah, not much else in there still only on the DC that you´d like I guess, for me there´s still plenty of reasons to keep mine around.[QUOTE="CLOUDsea"][QUOTE="Arach666"] The sequel is also done,apparently.Arach666

Yeah, not much else in there still only on the DC that you´d like I guess, for me there´s still plenty of reasons to keep mine around.Dreamcast is a great system. My friend just gave me a couple DC games that were duplicates in his collection, SoulCalibur and Vigilante 8 2nd Offense. Shenmue is far from the only game worth playing on the DC. The guy who gave me the DC games has a massive PS1 and DC collection with all the best and rare games. He lets me borrow them whenever I want. He doesn't even care about the collection aspect of gaming, he would probably give them to me if I asked, cause I've known the guy for 10+ years.
The games I have worth keeping a Dreamcast around for are the definitive version of Code Veronica, Rayman 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, SoulCalibur, Vigilante 8 2nd Offense and a few others, but my friend has the real gems. He's got Power Stone 2, Crazy Taxi, Marvel vs Capcom 2 (definitive version is the DC version), Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Jet Grind Radio, Dead or Alive 2, Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2, MDK2, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, Ultimate Fighting Championship, Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 and tons more.
The Dreamcast got by far the definitive version of some multi-plats that were at the time shared with the N64 and PS1, which is a possible scenario for the WiiU which will be getting multiplats shared with PS3 and 360.
I hope they release Shenmue and Shemue 2 HD soon! I never got to play the first one but I played the second and I loved it. I hope they also decided to make a Shenmue 3. It would be a day one buy for me. Even though I have played through Shenmue 2, I will play through it again if they ever decide to relase the HD remakes. Crossing my fingers for a Shenmue 3. Shenmue 2 and Phantom Dust are my two favorite games of all time.

Why is it the definitive version? Gamecube has Skies of Arcadia and PS2 has Grandia 2. I own a PS2 and a Gamecube. There just aren't many games that remained exclusive to the Dreamcast.

Grandia 2
"Grandia II may not look like much from a technical standpoint--disappointingly, the game actually looks a bit worse than the original Dreamcast version"
"The original Dreamcast version of Grandia II was released more than a year ago, and it's technically superior to the PlayStation 2 port."
http://www.gamespot.com/grandia-ii/reviews/grandia-ii-review-2846640/?page=2
Rayman 2
"On the downside, the game suffers from some slowdown problems that weren't apparent in the Dreamcast game, which had a rock solid 60 frames per second framerate throughout, and the quality of the grass and background textures are nowhere as detailed."

Marvel vs Capcom 2
"The Dreamcast version is considered to be the most faithful conversion of the home console ports, likely due to the similarity between the Dreamcast and NAOMI arcade hardware"

Skies of Arcadia performs the same on DC and GC, with the GC version being a little bit better with additional content. But games like Vigilante 8 2nd Offense, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, Shadowman and other multiplatform games that were shared between the DC, N64 and PS1 are obviously far superior on the DC.
I'll never understand the love for Shenmue. And no I'm not bashing the game. I know that makes me just as odd as people who never understood the hype behind OoT, but I just cant see whats so great. Hell, I never understood the crazy love for the Dreamcast either.
Just not my thing, I guess.
Dude, you would appreciate 2 even more if you played the first one.I hope they release Shenmue and Shemue 2 HD soon! I never got to play the first one but I played the second and I loved it. The Dreamcast hasnt aged well at all but people buy it for a bargain with a load of games so they cant be disappointed. As for the Shenmue games, the first one has some huge flaws and the second addresses a lot of them, however both games you were playing for the experience. For example, every NPC had a unique line of dialogue or had a different face. Details like that made the game revolutionary for its day.I'll never understand the love for Shenmue. And no I'm not bashing the game. I know that makes me just as odd as people who never understood the hype behind OoT, but I just cant see whats so great.
