At least it shows they havent forgotten about him, the very fact that he is not a dead character gives us some indication that the Shenmue franchise is still in the minds of sega devs.
It isn't though, this is a cash-out. Suzuki is gone, Shenmue failed to turn a profit, and Sega has moved on to bigger and not always better things. I want Shenmue 3 as much as the next person, but this is just milking a diehard fanbase who will cling on to the slightest mention of the series. At least it shows they havent forgotten about him, the very fact that he is not a dead character gives us some indication that the Shenmue franchise is still in the minds of sega devs.

PLEASE let this be SEGAs way of teasing me with the possibility of Shenmue 3! Rather than just a cash in aimed at us Shenmue fans, or both.
LOL @ Sega caring about fans If Sega even remotely cared about fans, they wouldn't make games like Sonic 06 and Sega Superstar TennisPLEASE let this be SEGAs way of teasing me with the possibility of Shenmue 3! Rather than just a cash in aimed at us Shenmue fans, or both.

We have that Project Needle thing coming, maybe they decided to FINALLY do Shenmue 3? It could be, but i don't think so, remember Pit in Brawl and that Nintendo was thinking in a new Kid Icarus game, well, this sound the same for me.At least it shows they havent forgotten about him, the very fact that he is not a dead character gives us some indication that the Shenmue franchise is still in the minds of sega devs.

Maybe because I have never played Shenmue (other than the Shenmue 2 demo on the Xbox), but I thought he looked pretty cool in that game. They didn't try to kidify him.

I know its a shame, I loved SHenmue and JSR and they are both left inthe dust :(
Just bring back Hang-on already. I'm not to found of Sumo Digital. They aren't making this are they? Also, Big the Cat needs to GTFO. Who asked for that guy?sonicthemegaman
I wouldn't worry. Even though Sega Superstars Tennis was a dud, Sumo Digital still have made plenty of good games.
Edit: Well... okay, a couple of good games, but they were responsible for OutRun 2 so I trust them to come up with the decent arcade style driving game.
[QUOTE="TheSystemLord1"]Sad that one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite series is reduced to this.Willy105Reduced? Yes, to a character in what is likely a 6/10 racing game..

Well OutRun 2 was cool. I'm still a bit skeptical after Super Star Tennis. They totally casual-ized that game.I bought the Shenmue games and fullheartedly agreed with all the criticism it recieved. Despite that I believe the series had a huge amount of potential of someone actually did it right! So I look forward to a sequel if SEGA could get their head out of their rears, oh and SEGA, HELLO!! Streets if Rage IV anytime please!!!
It's a rip to be honest, I'm not gonna over dramatise the issue but it's like they've actually exhumed Ryo Hazuki's still warm corpse, propped it up, stapled it to a motorbike and forced it to flop about whilst driving against cuddly Sega characters.
I hate to be a kill-joy but I played through Shemue 1 & 2 almost immediately after each other on the DC (borrowed them off a mate) once finished I was like "And then...?"
That was about... ages ago. I'd still buy Shemue 3 should it ever arise but it's no clever marketing ploy that they've left it so long. It's not coming.
Do what I did, replace it with something just as fulfilling in your life. I used crack to substitute; it's not everyone's cup of tea but it keeps the Shenmue shakes at bay...

Oh and yakuza 3 :) That's right, you COULD care less since it's funny how you said you wanted more of Unleashed's daytime levels and then said you don't care for "the needle thing". I also find it hilarious that people see Sonic's face and suddenly "the game is crap!!!!!"
i aguess so, ohh, wait, shenmue story isn't finished yet, it's actually stopped at a very critical part ........ how stupid sega is to make a tetralogy (it was announced as 4 games) and then stop wzout completing them, the game wasn't commercial success at its time but things have changed, if Yakuza made it, shenmue can make it, if every dev. stopped when one of its games isn't a success, then gaming industry would have crumbled years ago.Shenmue fans need to discover Yakuza.
foxhound_fox
TBH I think Sega is doing that with Yakuza 3. Let it go guys. Yakuza is the closest thing to the Shenmue series today.
sega is mindbloggling.
we see games like bayonetta and valkyria chronicles under their banner like once a year, maybe. everything else they seem involved in is pure dross.
Shenmue fans need to discover Yakuza.
Funny you mention this,I got Yakuza2 about a week ago,but honestly,I was sad(but not surprised) to see that it is inferior to Shenmue in every regard. But a decent game nonetheless. How so? I thought the story telling, voice acting, controls, and fighting mechanics were better in Yakuza imo. Yakuza is far from a decent game.As a Shenmue fan, I followed that logic and bought Yakuza for the PS2. I'm only at the start but it's a pile of poo compared to Shenmue. Yeah, Shenmue isn't perfect in some aspects but it does others flawlessly and as an experience it is the BEST game I have ever played. In my opinion anyways.
I always thought Heavy Rain would be the new Shenmue, sooo.. well, there really isn't a point to me saying this in regards to the topic I just think Heavy Rain is the new Shenmue.
Heavy rain is the new indigo prophecy.. I don't see any similarities between shenmue series and heavy rain save for the QTEs...and that isn't saying much.I always thought Heavy Rain would be the new Shenmue, sooo.. well, there really isn't a point to me saying this in regards to the topic I just think Heavy Rain is the new Shenmue.
