I'm slightly worried tbh.
Oh, I'm not. They don't disappoint with Mario (I'm going to pretend Sunshine doesn't exist).
Let's see what they have up their sleeves.

I just feel Mario was the last to need drastic changes.

Mario always has drastic changes. Mario 64 to Sunshine to Galaxy to 3D World are all very different kinds of games. Miyamoto probably just means that the new Mario isn't going to be in the vein of 3D World or even Galaxy, but that Nintendo will be trying something new again entirely.

When I say "drastic changes" I mean it like a change of "essence", but yeah I'm probably just overthinking it.
Wouldn't mind a new attempt at Sunshine. ;)

I'd be fine with it, make it not suck this time.
Just like Sunshine and galaxy were, don't worry.
And hell, 3D World (or 3D Land, really), too.
I want a true sequel to 64. One gigantic world, all connected, no loading. Over 500 stars to collect. If you do something to one area it can effect other areas. For example, if you beat a giant boss bully in the volcano area and send it flying plugging up the active volcano which clears the flowing lava at the base to access a new area.
Dynamic weather. Rain will allow Mario to slide further and longer creating some crazy jumps. It would be glorious.

Yep... Mario always goes in new ventures in the platformer genre, so Miyamoto saying this is nothing new.
I have faith in The Goat.
But you trusted him with SFZ. :P
Let's pretend SFZ doesn't exist.
"A new kind" is kind of a vague statement. It could allude to different things, positively or negatively.
That was AMAZING. I loved it when he said "It's-a me, Mario !"
Also that Nico Belic cameo xD
Have these guys made any other videos ?
Yeah they made another one. This one features DK and his Mob of family:
I will admit, if Nintendo ever does this type, there consoles will sell millions.

Even all the 2D Mario games have actually been very different from one another except for the 'New Super Mario Bros" series, which seems similar to one another. I dislike the 3 hidden coin collecting part of those games.
Space Marine Mario perhaps? :-)
First person view Mario with parkour and jumping on mushrooms (kinda like mirrors edge) :p
@Sgt_Crow: 3D World is far superior to Sunshine. Sunshine remains the only questionably designed Mario game I've played. So much of it felt unpolished and obtuse.
I'm excited for change. It's a part of Mario's history.
I'd love to get a new 2d Mario that feels, looks, and sounds NOTHING like the NSMB titles.
Take it back to 2d art, give it some inspired tunes, and ditch the co-op element altogether. I'd love for it to feel just as distinct as the SMB/SMW games were in their time. Even if they went some crazy unexpected route like they did with Yoshis Island I'd be cool with that. Hell, I'd love that.
Basically just give the 2d games the same respect they give the 3d games in terms of style and creativity.
Not saying the NSMB games are bad, I enjoyed them all. But after NSMBW they started to have that assembly line feel. Completely uninspired. And while those games were enjoyable enough as one-offs, I could never bring myself to replay them. And I usually replay the **** out of 2d platformers.
I think most people accept that Mario as a platformer is always welcome but what gets me is that he's in fuckin everything.
Nintendo football game? Mario
Nintendo fighting game? Mario
Nintendo racing game? Mario
Nintendo party game? Mario
Nintendo golf game? Mario
Nintendo tennis game? Mario
What if you don't find Mario appealing? Shouldn't they try to branch out? Shouldn't they try more to bring back some of the older characters instead of constantly going back to the same well?
Familiarity breeds contempt.
I think a Mario platform game is perfectly acceptable for every Nintendo console gen, but just the platformer.
@DocSanchez: If you dont find Mario football appealing, then you play Madden football. The reason they use Mario and Kirby a lot is cause they are easy to use thanks to their design. They also have nice big worlds with lots recognizable of characters.
Kid Icarus football wont work too good i feel.

Too bad if that's the case, '3D World' is my favorite 3D Mario game by a mile.

Yesssss. 3D World is so overrated it's ridiculous.
@iandizion713: You are literally too biased for me to have any meaningful conversation with. Sorry. I have no interest.
Well hope its different but good...not Sunshine though...could never get into that game. Open world-action-platform-rpg Mario?...they open up Zelda & BotW sounds great..so hopefully the same good way. :P
I have faith in The Goat.

That, and he hasn't exactly been praising Nintendo's efforts that aren't Splatoon. He's mainly been using it as a Platinum box (well, just W101 and Bayonetta 2).
Looks good..did you draw that? ....but no...looking at "Peach" she looks like those typical cartoon female character ..that just says "Whatevaaa!" :P

Not gonna happen. Yooka-Laylee is your game my man. Banjo Tooie was like this, except for the dynamic weather part. I would like mario to stick to the Galaxy styled game, not Galaxy themed though. A mix between the linear design but with a more playground style design. I thought 3d world was a little too simple for my tastes.

Beginning with Mario Kart 8, the series has since added NON-Mario characters (Link, AC Villagers)
Also, Smash Bros isn't just Mario. It's a crossover of Nintendo in general (well, until it got all "CNReal", and I hope they don't go all MTV next). So why WOULDN'T he be there?
