This expansion is packed with over 40 hours of new content, cities, quests. It's a good deal, and I will get it as soon as I get more MS points.

I actually almost started a thread the other day about how I thought that the 360 version would look better, at least with SI, because it's all on the HD, and that even with the PS3's 4.6 gb install, toe-to-toe the 360 has better gaming horsepower, so I expected this to be true. Glad to hear it is.

Well not by much it seems as if the PS3 version of Oblivion looks more like shivering Isles. There is the Ps3 version of Oblivion then Xbox 360 version and then there is shivering isles which looks a tad bit better then the PS3 version of Oblivion. But the 996 MB is killing my Hard drive space..... slowly....

Just goes to show you if the 360 version installed 4.6 gigs on the HD it would be the best looking. They just don't want to fill up the little 13gb hd. I guess if you have a 20gb ps3, you can install a few games with massive installs like Oblivion's, and then shows over.

360 update after Elite version with 120GB allow us to install all of Oblivion on to the HDD and it will look better then the PS3 version.

From the pictures i have seen, the graphics on the 360 and ps3 look VERY similar ! You can't tell any difference after the update. The ps3 looked better, because Bethesda made the graphics better, and then they released an update for the Xbox 360. It's not because the 360 can't handle it or anything...i'm just saying this to all cows that are gonna write all kinds of ****:)

I don't think so. First of all, IGN has stated that the PS3 version of Oblivion looks and runs better than the 360 version AFTER it was patched. Shivering Isles is an expansion pack and uses the same exact graphics engine. I don't see how an expansion pack can run on a different graphics engine than the original game itself...... I own a PC and every expansion pack that I've played featured the same graphics engine. Usually the only difference graphically is the art style.....

Yes, but they weren't comparing it to Shivering Isles, which runs off the HD. The PS3 version only looks better because of this MASSIVE installation. If the 360 Oblivion installed 4.6 gigs like the PS3 version, it would be better looking than the PS3 version. Since SI runs off the HD, it looks better than even the PS3 version. It's not a different engine, the assets are just loaded much faster off of HD vs Optical discs.

Since the PS3 has RAM limitations, if Shivering Isles does come out for PS3, it will have to be on a disc, which is why it will look worse than Oblivion did on the 360 BEFORE it got the update.

No surprise that SI on 360 looks better than the PS3 version of Oblivion, afterall the 360 is more powerful than the PS3.

You beat me to it, i was just going to make a thread about it, the new textures are AMAZING !!! Great job indeed, and just shows how superior 360 is to PS3, not that the far worst lighting, some textures in towns, AA and HDR plus the washed out colors meanty anything good for PS3 Oblivion in the first place, just too old gen hardware  in PS3

Exactly! It might load a little faster but having the game on the hard drive is not going to improve graphics. Lmao!!! The game runs on the same graphics engine so no, the graphics do not look better than the PS3 version of Oblivion. Btw, the PS3 is more powerful, it's been confirmed by tons of developers and even IGN's own editor-in-chief of Xbox 360 has admitted this.

Having the game installed on the hard drive doesn't make it LOOK better. It makes it RUN better.

Which makes it look better ;)

I had them running at the same time on 2 HDTV's.

Got to hand it to Lems Shivering Isles looks Better but now by much.

Yes. It was stated the PS3 not only looked better, but had better framerates as well. Thats pretty impressive.

Yes, but they weren't comparing it to Shivering Isles, which runs off the HD. The PS3 version only looks better because of this MASSIVE installation. LoL! So you're saying that faster load times make the games look better? What an ignorant statement. Thanks for the laugh! Btw, for the person that mentioned the PS3 being ram limited, there has not been one game that has been limited because of the lack of ram. Take the new Unreal Tournament for the PS3 for example. Not only does it look better than Gears of War but it runs at a blazing frame rate. I can link you folks to the preview if you'd like?

Dude, no! Having a hard drive is not going to make a console more powerful. It might improve load times but it's not going to improve the CPU or GPU in a console. The expansion pack runs on the same exact graphic engine as the original so you might THINK it looks better because of the new skins, characters and other such content, the fact is, it does not.

You don't understand what we're talking about. Nobody is saying what you think they are. They can put better textures on the HD, and they can be accessed faster than crappier textures off of an optical drive. And weather you understand or not, this DOES make games look better, which is the only reason the PS3 has any edge over the 360.But since SI 360 and the PS3 version of regular Oblivion both run off the HD, it's a better way to judge the relative rendering capabilities of the 2 consoles, and I'm sorry but the PS3 loses.  Not by a huge maragin, but it's inferior at rendering 3d graphics.

[QUOTE="Mudig"]This expansion is packed with over 40 hours of new content, cities, quests. It's a good deal, and I will get it as soon as I get more MS points. -DarthVader-

I thought it was only one city???!

Once XBL comes back online i am buying :D

Actually I thought it was supposed to be kind of like another dimension that did contain a large city but also had smaller locales surrounding it.
