Should "BATTLEFIELD" go back to World War 2?

They should halt the series for a year or two and come back with something entirely different. Hardline is a cool concept but even that looks like the same old Battlefield. Most stale and boring "blockbuster" series there is these days.

My vote is easily Vietnam. Too may WWII games and not nearly enough decent ones from Nam. If not Vietnam, then modern... however, it needs to be a different setting. Preferably jungle, forest, etc.

Anything besides the modern setting is welcome.

I want a Battlefield with bow and arrows and swords. Vehicle are dinosaurs: raptors; t-rexs; and pterodactyls.

They should make a Lord of the Rings battlefield. It would be great: endless dlc material from lore, subsequent subscriptions, endless amounts of goty editions, premium editions, hair dlc, oliphaunt dlc, pay 2 legolas, free 2 gimli.

They are already making Battlefront 3 so they got the umm future covered. I'd prefer they go back to a Cold War era. WWII is too old, Vietnam's all jungle all the time gets boring fast and I am tired of the Modern shooter.

They need totally new gameplay, change engine and build game from start. Bad Company, Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4... all modern... they just reskin weapons, sound and maps but everything else is same.

If you want a real World War 2 sim, play Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm. Battlefield scale but with way more realism. (No name indicators so you have to identify enemies by uniform, no bullet counters, 1 hit kills, ect)

No one asked about a sim and most people prefer their games to be a little more arcadey.

Why would it go back to WW2? What else do people want from that setting? Having to historically set your game already limits the amount of creativity and environments you can create.

bad company series is one of the BEST imo. So addictive, clean, gameplay wise its just awesome.

They need to go back to that.

WW2 does not set historically limits. You saying that Wolfenstein is also historically? Nope. You can make any game in WW2 and having your own story, maps and war. Alternative war for example.

If you want them to go fictive, why would you want it to be based on WW2?

Personally I would love to see a World War 2 game with Dice's frostbite 3 engine with its lighting and beauty. Plus consoles are seriously lacking in this genre that frankly should be brought back.

I wouldn't mind it, I'd love to see another well made WW2, though that may exclude a BF game =p

They need to make a medieval Battlefield game, that I would be down for.

Horses, wagons, swords, bows and arrows, cross-bows, catapults etc.

I really want Battlefield to go back to 2142. I spent countless hours in titan mode on that game.

Call of Duty however should go back to world war 2.

Apparently all it takes is a generation and some change for people to beg for the return of one of the most ridiculously over-saturated genre settings.

They (Acti and EA) should stop releasing both COD and Battlefield and work on something completely new.

TBh I'm about ready to go back to WW2. I've had enough of modern shooters and Planetside 2 is scratching that huge epic sci-fi battles itch for the forseeable future (LOL BATTLEFRONT 32 PLAYERS, huh?!).

FPS in general needs a new WW2 iteration from the triple A studios.
