Imagine if the Zombie minigame was a downloadable game on XBLA/PSN/Steam. Would you buy it over a retail Call of Duty game?

Yes. Then I no longer have to worry about having that piece of **** mode in the game instead of the infinitely superior Spec-Ops.
I don't even what to say about this.. Zombies is nothing but a simplified version of L4D. Why don't you just go and play that instead? Way more fun, if you ask me. Survival and Spec Ops is way more interesting than zombies. The reason why I ask this cuz i feel that Zombies is the only redeeming feature of Call of Duty, and i am convinced that the lack of zombies is a bad mistake for MW3.

i would buy it if first i had a current gen console and 2 if it was standalone dlc for about 20 bux
never really played the actual game just zombies and well thats the only way i would buy it
I wouldn't get it, I found the zombie mode real boring after not long at all. The first map in World at War was pretty fun, but every single addon map was cheesy and lame IMO. And the Black Ops ones was just more of the same and got boring as well. I'd say RDR Undead Nightmare made a hell of a lot better Zombie Mode, and Left 4 Dead is way better as well.
As far as CoD goes, Spec Ops >>>>>>>>>>> Zombie mode, but wouldn't be a bad downloadable title I suppose.

Funny, I feel the exact opposite. When Treyarch announced they were putting in Nazi Zombies instead of Spec Ops I refused to buy the game.
Sure, Activision could always use some extra cash.

I'd actually say that it would give them less.
If they released a zombie game, it would sell for say, $20.
Many people bought BO JUST for zombies

This is Activision. You've got to be crazy if you think anything called Call of Duty will come out on a retail disc for consoles at anything under $50.
On what CoD game is that Zombie mode...??AtariKidXWorld at War and Black Ops, i.e. both the most recent Treyarch-developed CoD games.

They would also NEVER make a whole game based around the zombie mode for $100.
If it was sold at full price, I wouldn't get it. Even if it was like 5 bucks, I wouldn't get it; I can just play it over at a friend's house.
Isn't it exactly like Left 4 Dead?foxhound_fox
4 player co-op and zombies
thats where the similairity ends.
Call of Duty Black Ops is about just trying to see how many waves you can last, each getting harder. You buy weapons, barricade windows so that zombies can't come in and get cool little perks. But after awhile it gets repetitive because the only part is 'survival'
L4D is getting from one safe point to the other, with 4 people. It has an objective that you MUST reach. Plus is has VS where you can be the zombies. Really well balanced surprignly and great fun. I suggest you buy it on steam when it's cheap on sale (got mine for 5)
Personally, I don't really like where they went with zombies lately.
in World at War, I loved every zombie map, and in Black Ops I really enjoyed the first two maps, but after that, as neat as they were, they got a little convoluted and unnecessary. Too much exposition and the levels became huge complex labyrinths with incredibly difficult tasks. Moon has a 13 step plan if you want to see everything in that map, and its damn hard to pull off.
On the other hand, you can't have much of a game out of a series of goalless maps where you fight off zombies for hours.
I can see it being a good downladable game, but I've grown tired of zombies.

Get Killing Floor! Trust me you'll love it! It has boss's at the end, though an update would be nice with new boss'

I actually plan on getting Killing Floor, but I want to wait until I'm in a game drought or during a Steam sale first since there is so much to play right now that it would be a wasted purchase with Payday, Dark Souls, RAGE and Batman in my current library.
I love zombies, but I can see where it needs changing.
For one, the zombies are kind of hard to fight, in a frustrating way. They have this glitch where they can instantly hit you twice and down you, and it seems unnecessary for any weapon to ever be so weak on old zombie flesh that you require 3 clips of headshots to kill one zombie (M1911 *ahem*).
It also seems like they need to give the maps a healthy amount of exploration and easter eggs, but not go overboard. Der Riese is my favorite zombie map because its a great mix. Full of cool easter eggs and a somewhat complex plan, but the plan is doable even with just a moderately good team and you can always ignore the more complex objectives and still not feel like you are missing out.
In contrast, Moon is hard to navigate and full of difficult tasks like stopping certain things from happening and being locked out from events if you make a mistake, plus some areas are just unnecessarily frustrating (like the moon trampolines). Its a fun map, and its got a cool setting, but it requires too much to enjoy and even get a basic good weapon or box access.
The classic maps are also fun, like the original which had a few different tactics but was still simple and fun.
