This 40 GB PS3 only costs $270, and it comes with the movie Spider Man 3 and the videogame GTA IV for free. I think it's more then worth it. You don't need to spend $500....

I wouldn't buy one.
The awful system of installs means you can only have a few games before having to buy another HDD.
Install are so lame. And a because Sony wanted to use the PS3 as a Trojan Horse for Blu Ray.
Plus it has a clunky unorganized system that's not unified and its just frankensteined together.
I would wait till the release an updated version with all the hundreds of patches it needs becuase it sucks.
And maybe by then the will include the DS3 and of course when its cheaper.
But whatever. I don't think its worth it yet.
I rent games with gamefly. 2 at a time for $20 a month. Saves a lot of money because I don't have to pay $60 for a game to beat it only to be stuck with it and never play it again. I was thinking of buying the special edition ps3 package with MGS 4, but it's not worth the extra $100. I'll rent MGS 4 for as long as I need to.If you only have $500, I don't think that's enough for you to get a PS3 and a game.

Oic. If you find one, you should buy the 80 gig PS3 MGS4 bundle, because it comes with a DS3, and trust me, you'll need a DS3 for MGS4. Just add $50 more bucks to your $500, and I think you're set to get that bundle.
I'm not sure if Walmart still offer that $100 gift card thing, but they hardly got that bundle in stock. You should check Kmart.
Im going to say yes and no.
Yes it is a good system. It is reliable. It has blu ray. Free online MP for its games.
Single player games like Metal Gear Solid (the systems only killer exclusive at this point), Ratchet, Uncharted(short), Heavnly Sword(short) are fun.
Warhawk, Resistance for mp are fun
Plus later this year there are MP games like Resistance 2(60 player online, broken into squads for giant objective based gaming) and Socom Confronations
Then there is Litte Big Planet, White Knight Chronicles, and DIsgea 3(sequal to 2 AA games).
Knowing Sony track record this gen, expect a different sku with a better price bundled in with game by the end of summer or holidays.
I mean if you're really not a Metal Gear fan, I don't think it'll be a good idea to get a PS3 right now for one game.
You're better off playing with your current systems right now, and just save your money, until something from the PS3 really sways you to get one.
Just wait.
I would wait till better games come out because paying $400-500 for a console for just one game is a bit much or wait for a price cut. If Walmart has the $100 gift card deal still then you should consider it, but it is your choice.
I wouldn't buy one.

Holy cow you are a total loser. Jeez buy all 3 consoles and enjoy them people, they are all good.
[QUOTE="RyuHayabusaX"]What is DS3?ReverseCycology
It's a Playstation controller with last gen rumble.
Yeah I could care less about rumble. My 360 controllers could rumble but I always turn it off. Keeps the battery going a lot longer.for $500? We're talking about a lot of money to play some games that I can't play on my Xbox 360. I don't plan on using Blu-Ray much either. It does seem a little stupid at first, but I've been thinking about buying it since it was released. I'm going to college next year so I don't know if I'll have a lot of time to play it then. Is it worth the $500 to play MGS 4(single player mostly, and it's only 20 hours. I prefer multiplaer, gears of war 2 comes out soon)? Are there any future titles that will make it worth $500?RyuHayabusaX
to sum it all up in one word......YES
I wouldn't buy one.

WOW somebody has a lot of anger built up in them
first not everygame has installs and if they do they are all under 5GB so if you buy the 80GB model thats 16 games
the advantage of install is it makes load times in-game shorter
the online is free so you cant complain about the occasional glitch
update 2.4 is coming out in the next month and should add all the features Xbox live has
the new MGS4 bundle includes the DS3
has a less than 1% failure rate so your getting a quality system

thats was more like a YES and no
I can afford it, but there's no point in buying something you don't have to have. I think I"ll get it in the end, though the Xbox 360 still gets plenty of good games, including multiplatform games like Resident Evil 5 and eventually Gears of War 2.Hopefully I can get it on Monday and a Samsung 46" 120 Hz LCD for $1870+the $400 PS3.
I said no because
- Its expensive still
- I don't think you are a big MGS fan(its best game is MGS 4)
- the other exclusives are AA fillers basically.
- The online community rarely has mics unless its Warhawk(MGO very few mics)
- Sony's best publishing work is on Single Player and you prefer multiplayer
- Why buy a system if you are only into renting most of it's games?
But thats just my opinion
So I say Yes and NO. If one side made more valid points for to you, than that is the answer you should probably be looking at.jg4xchamp
I only buy games that will last me a while(Halo 3, Gears of War, Call of Duty 4), and rent all the single player games and multiplayer games that are short lived. This is honestly a very tough decision. I feel like if I buy a PS3, I'm a hardcore gamer that wants to really get involved into video games. If I just keep my 360, I'm a normal gamer that isn't too much into games since at my school a lot of people have 360s and they aren't hardcore. I don't want to be hardcore, but I want to play MGS 4. It would be like asking myself if I wanted to spend $350 for an Xbox 360 for Halo 3 back when it was popular. I would have since it had Gears of War as well.
Of course you become smarter as you age, and you peak at like 21. I feel that as a 17 year old, I can look back at when I was 14-16 and say that playing games never really did much for me. I see myself as a casual gamer that likes online multiplayer, and while I may play for hours sometimes, I can't possibly spend $500 for a gaming system just so I can play some games that aren't on my 360.
Who knows, I might still buy it, but if I do, I beat MGS 4, I'll probably go straight back to Halo 3 and COD 4 multiplayer on my 360, and then Gears of War 2 is around the corner. I think I was really looking at the PS3 because of the PS2 games that carry over like Ratchet and Clank(I beat the first 4), God of War 1+2, and Jak and Daxter. I think I need to let go of those games when I'm about to go into college. I don't need to spend $500 to play them.
Other than that, I'm getting a 46" LCD for $1870. I've always wanted it, and my parents can use it when I'm gone to college, or I can come home to play it if I go to the college that I live close to, which will probably be the case.
