Should i buy another handheld?

Hello, in the last few weeks ive been curious about the Nintendo 3DS XL. ive kinda started to watching and wondering about the system, and it looks GREAT! Now, ive really though about buying a new 3DS XL for by birthday. Now, a few things: Whats your suggestions/thoughts about the 3DS XL and if its worth buying?

2. i have a ps vita system wich i love, but im not really into it because the games are kinda boring... and the games on the 3DS looks fun. now, do you think i will enjoy the system? 2. ive heard their is an R4 something that i can download DS/3DS games on the system. Any help? Any ideas/thoughts? thanks.
