You're asking if you should buy a console and thus allow yourself to have more options in which games you can play. I think the question answers itself.
Hey TC if you want to play online especially some of the multiplats like MW2, COD4 then sure I guess but I would make sure you are interested in the exclusive games on the PS3. If you like UC2, DS, KZ2, and R2 or some of the upcoming games HR, GOW3, GT5 or LG then I would say definitely. I love my 2 PS3's.

You forgot that he must expend other $100 on a wifi adapter for the Xbox while the one with the PS3 comes included without additional price :) Besides no, any true gamer will tell him that both services are pretty good for online play. This is actually the first time I've seen the term console exclusive being used appropriately in SW :P That's what i was thinking lol. More to the point, i think the best combination is PC and PS3, there you have all the good games covered.
