Hi, I'm going to get Bad Company 2 when it gets released but I'm not sure on which version to go with. I have a gaming PC with an HD4870 and a Quad Core CPU(see the rest in sig) and I also own a PS3 with an 5.1 sound system and a 46" HDTV. Which version do you guys think is the best overall? Thanks.

I had to make this choice too. Choose whichever one more of your friends are on. If that isn't an issue then go with pc: better graphics, probably get DLC faster, and I prefer the keyboardfor shooters.

I would say what ever platform most of your friends are on. I would think that the PC version is going to be best.

The thing I don't understand is: why aren't games of this nature cross-compatible online? I think we should be at the point in time when the gaming community should be integrated enough that online games are cross-platform compatible online.

different network frameworks, xbox 360 and pc can do it on a few games but ps3 is currently too different and x360 to ps3 would probably require microsoft and sony to cooperate

Final Fantasy XI worked on the PS2, Xbox 360, and PC; Final Fantasy XIV will work on the PS3 and PC, and I wouldn't be too surprised if a 360 version comes out sooner or later, assuming that they can work out all the technical aspects to make it possible.

I'm getting it for my PS3 because my PC isn't optimized for gaming. I could play it; but it would look horrible compared to my ps3/hdtv setup. But in your case; your pc might be able to play it well; and you could still connect your computer to your hdtv via hdmi cord. So try the PC version.

But do you think that would be fair to do so in a competitive shooter? PC gamers with key+mouse would always be more proficient than the console gamers with the controllers(unless they had some heavy auto aim)

If you have a top notch rig, then the advanced graphics and 32 players might make the PC version better. If you have more friends on PS3 or a not so great rig then thePS3 version might be for you.

Do you like playing games on the PC? If you do, you might go with that.

*Bad Company 2 also has dedicated servers for the PC, sothat's another advantage.

Of course, both systems sound good, and it sounds like you have a really nice setup either way, just depends on which system you have more fun with, sitting at a computer or in front of a TV.

*thanks to dgsag for the tip

PS3 = worst version, 10 year old joypad with dodgy analogue sticks never buy the PS3 version of a multiplatform game

People were angry about MW2 on PC for not having dedicated servers, not sure if Bad Company 2 is putting them in, but if they are, that might make playing on PC another advantage. The PC version has dedicated server support.
