I own a Playstation3 (don't hate me now) but, I really was convinced by the Xbox360. I read about how the Xbox360 and Playstation3 are so alike but totally different to each other. The Playstation3 just renders the textures lighter making it look a little cheap compared to the Xbox360 and it costs more to develop games for the Playstation3 so they have to use different techniques. I was wondering should I buy me an Xbox360 because it really is cool, I'm not a fan boy so I don't hate theXbox360 or prefer the Playstation3 it's just that I'm use to playing on the Playstation3's controller and not on an Xbox360 controller. So I will be waiting then, thank you for helping me.

Yes, yes you should. As someone who owns both systems, I can attest to the advantages of being able to play all the great console games...

I do own a decent PC able to play at least Assassin's Creed 2 on medium settings, but I mostly use my PC to develop stuff you know game engines, etc. Is Modern Warfare 2 nice on PC and Xbox360? And I do own a HDTV with DVI input.

Of course you should. If you can afford to have more options, there's no reason not to.

I am getting all consoles like the NintendoWii, etc. I'm just waiting for the new Xbox360 or the Xbox720 so that I can at least also have a Blu-Ray drive like my Playstation3 for true HDTV movies.

I actually have enough money to buy 2 of each console existing and games. Sorry if some of my responses have words together, I'm not at my house right now using my good PC.

If you've already got a perfectly good PS3 with Blu-Ray, what do you care if your 360 has Blu-Ray?

If you got the money to invest in another console then go for it. But I will warn you now you will end up investing way more money on a 360 especially if you get the arcade package.

As for which console has the better graphics I can honestly tell you that overall the PS3 is better. Only a few limited amount of multiplats look better on the 360 but the difference is so miniscule that it doesnt even matter.

I assume a decent PC can run Halo3, ODST, Gears2, PGR4, Forza3, Fable2, Banjo, etc...right?

On topic: Yeah, you should get a 360. It has an impressive and diverse lineup and its pretty cheap right now ;)

I like the way you think of investing more than you want to invest on an Xbox360. I have heard about the ring of death. I was wondering does the user always use the console correctly; the Playstation3 must at least be 30cm away from a wall, etc.

All I'm saying is to be more hesitant buying a 360 if you already own a decent pc. I own a 360 and the game I'm playing most is Tales of Vesperia, because for all the other games you've mentioned (except for Banjo which I really should give a try I guess) there are plenty of options on the pc equally great and some even better.

My 360's never gotten the rings, I keep it well-ventilated, in an open space, and all of that. However if you're buying a new 360 its not really much of an issue. The problem is largely gone from new models. You'd also have a full 3 year warranty anyhow. Xbox Live can cost anywhere from $30-$50 a year depending on how you shop. Looking around online, you can usually find a yearly card for as low as $30.

Your looking at $50 a year to play multiplayer which will include..

  • Gamertag is a gamer's unique online ID for all games across the global gaming service.
  • Friends list This feature allows gamers to find friends online and invite them to a game, no matter which Xbox Live game they're playing.
  • Xbox Communicator Voice communication is integrated with all Xbox Live multiplayer games and enables voice interaction with teammates and opponents. Key elements of this feature exclusive to Xbox include voice masking, global muting and parental control.
  • Matchmaking Quick Match enables players to enter a multiplay experience with a single button-click, and OptiMatch, an Xbox Live exclusive, helps them select games and opponents based on similar skill levels.

Actually I'm am investing in an $3000 PC, with an Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition running at 3.30GHz and 16GB RAM DD3 and the latest 5600 NVIDIA graphics card with 1.4GB video memory. I'm getting this in a few months and giving my decent PC to someone else.

You see the problem is that everything I own or buy, I buy in cash and I do not own a credit card and also I live in South Africa so I don't think Microsoft ever released cards there like the Playstation3's PSN cards valued at R250 and R500 which is $25 and $50.

Well, i wont discuss personal preferences of course!

At least to me Halo3, Gears2, Forza3 and Mass Effect (since i dont have a good PC) are reasons enough to get a 360.

I guess I came over a bit negative towards the 360, but I don't actually regret buying a 360. Infact Tales of Vesperia may well be my most played game overall on all systems I own. I'm just not sure If I could tell someone who owns a PS3 and a decent PC to get 360, but that's why we're all here I guess. To convince each other the opposite :P

Off-topic: Landed a PlaystationPortable contract with Sony but not a Xbox360 dev contract with Microsoft yet.

On-topic: It's a game engine for the Xbox360, maybe version 2.0 will be compatible with Natal.

I understand. I would never get a 360 just for Tales of Vesperia so, its fair enough :P

Many will say, "get a gaming PC" and there is always a great case for a gaming rig. but don't be ashamed or any of that status non sense you read here for wanting and getting a 360. It is a great console with many great games to be experienced on it. I have all 3 consoles and a half way decent PC. I can't say how awesome and freeing of both my love for gaming and my mind it is to just own what systems I want and enjoy them. Hope you get one and enjoy it.

There should be a contrast button on your TV-remote.

no, not the contrast button or the brightness, turn the colour up, i accidently stumbled on the answer,my TV settings messed up, i started playing Resi 5 on the 360 and it looked a little washed out like the PS3 version, so i ramped the colour up and it was fine

What you heard about textures is bull. Get it if you want one but personally I think it is a little redundant since they share like 90% of the games. Get a good PC if you want to have the best gaming combo this gen.
