Don't buy a refurbished 360. Ever. If you really want to move to 360, then buy an Arcade and a used hard drive. That's the only "safe" way to go.
Don't do it. Refurbished game systems means that it was a broken unit and has been fixed (at least they can claim this, but who knows how well it was fixed). Wouldnt recommend buying refurbished system on any platform, especially the 360 with the higher failure rate.
Ok so recently I have been thinking about selling my 80gb ps3 to get a xbox 360. I figured that I can sell it for around $190 on ebay and get around another $118 for my games on ebay for a total of $309. I saw a xbox 360 pro refurb system on gamestop.com for $200 giving me some money to buy games with. Should I do this deal? Is it worth it? I know alot of my friends have the 360 and it would be sick to play online with them. What are some advantages and disadvantages??? colonelsau16how about you try to save up the $200, and own both consoles? If thats an option I thinks it would be the best way to go, unless you just really don;t like your PS3. but selling a PS3 for a refurb 360 is not something I would personally do. Go mow 10 lawns - theres the money for a new system right there.
But do you think it would be worth it to trade in a ps3 for a 360. Is it really that much of a difference?colonelsau16
the ps3 has by far the better value imo. free online, blu ray, more reliable, wifi, all that crap plus some of the best exclusive games which put anything the 360 has to offer to shame (MGS4, LBP, Demon's Souls). i dont think wanting to play online with your friends justifies switching systems but that is just me.
Don't do it.
a) Refurbished 360s are a horrible idea, it prolly RRODed before and it could very well do it again.
b) The 360 is simply the inferior system. I had to make a choice between a PS3 and a 360 last year. I had only played the 360, played it a lot with friends, and it was a good system game-wise, so I leaned towards it. The more I looked into it, the worse an idea it seemed to get one. Then when I actually looked into the PS3 library, I realized it actually had way more games I wanted, especially that I couldn't get on PC. So I decided to give it a shot. Never had played one, really didn't know if it was the right choice, but I couldn't be happier with it. The multiplayer simply isn't worth giving up superior single player games and an all around more powerful and stable system.
The 360 is awesome, but I wouldn't suggest selling a system to get another, even if the 360 is the superior system.
Dude, I would keep your PS3, you won't get much for selling it used. You'll sell your PS3 and regret it. Why not have both a PS3 and 360?

What are some advantages and disadvantages??? colonelsau16No, you're better off getting the elite NEW or the arcade NEW and a seperate hard drive from ebay... get the warranty of a NEW console. Otherwise, its all good.
TC, do whatever you want.
However, I would highly recommend you DO NOT purchase a used or refurbished 360 at all.
The PS3 you have may have spoiled you into thinking consoles are super reliable, but that's not the story, unfortunately.
The NEW 360's have much better chips, get one of those if you are dead set on having a 360 machine.
I'm gonna go ahead and echo the sentiments of everyone here and say don't sell your PS3. If you want a 360 that bad, save up and get one. Chances are if you're in any "one console or the other" scenario that involves getting rid of the console you currently own, you're gonna regret it later. Sure, you may enjoy the prospect of the multiplayer experience with friends better on the 360 but you don't seem to hate your PS3. Plus, lets not forget all the great single player experiences that you'd miss on your PS3.
I say save up and buy it if you can so then you'll have both. After all, you can't really beat having more options.
The thing you need to watch is your warranties. I'm on my 3rd 360 and 2nd PS3, it could have been expensive for me if it wasn't for warranties so I would check what that comes with and make sure you have RROD cover.
In terms of whether to make the change only you can really decide on that. You need to look at the games you play and decide which console has the more exclusives that suit you. There's nothing between them graphically, review websites will tell you the 360 is better and PS3 owners will shout the praises of the PS3 but they really are close - nothing in it. Decide based on the games.
The controllers both have their advantages, the 360 is better for shooters and driving games, the PS3 better for beat'em ups. On the whole I prefer the 360 controller as I mainly play FPS - I wish I could get one for my PS3.
I would only change to 360 if you subscribe to Live Gold. The 360 is totally integrated with Live and Silver membership means you can't play online amongst other things. If you weren't going to plug it in to the net at all then stick with your PS3. & don't pay full whack for XBL either - get it off Ebay for a fraction of the price.

Get rid of your PS3 save some money and buy the Elite only its the only way to make sure the damn thing wont break down.

Is this legit if I buy an elite bundle I get a $50 gift card? Where can I use it?
I don't keep up on this stuff, but the one bundle deal I know of is at Amazon.
You get a 360 Elite, Lego Batman, Pure, and a $50 gift card for just under $340.
This. Tell your friends to buy PS3s instead.Don't do it.
