So I currently own a 20 gig ps3 but lately i have been thinking about selling it to get a 60 gig but i havent decided. I figure If i sold it on ebay for about $400.00, I would just need $220.00 more and I could get built in wifi and a bigger harddrive, does anyone else own a 20 gig? I dont even know why i bought the 20 gig to begin with, I bought mine at toys r us at launch and I could have got a 60 gig but at the time i just decided to buy the 20 gig and use the extra $100.00 for the protection plan and a extra game but now I wish I would have bought the 60 gig. Also if i do decide to sell my 20 gig PS3, how can I back up my game saves, because I have my God of war 2 files saved on there along with my resistance game files saved and I havent beaten either games yet.

I don't believe I've evn used 4 gbs of HD space yet, on my ps3. Besides demos there hasn't been anything worth downloading since Tekken, what can you possibly need the space for.

Thats all you need to do is upgrade the hard drive.

But no WiFi or built-in card reader.

you can buy a bigger HDD if you need it ...

You can easily get a 100-200gig HDD for $40-$80, and upgrade it yourself. It slides right in.

WiFi adaptors are cheap, there is no point, now that you have one.

That's dumb, just upgrade the hard drive to like 100GB. Edit: Yes a common mistake is thinking they consoles take regular desktop 3.5'' drives, they need notebook 2.5'' drives.

My buddy just got a 120gig for $75. He didn't even get a great deal, my point is deals are out there, I suppose I shot a bit low, but if you are going to spend $40-$80, you can certainly get a fantastic deal.

Yeah but the 120gb HDD cost $180 and that is the highest quality 2.5 hdd on the market.

You must be confusing Sony and the rest of the world's real-life pricing with M$ 360 pricing.

Those aren't the same, sadly.

an extra $200+ for wifi doesn't seem like a worthwhile investment, wifi is cool, but since u already got the 20gb, i'd say, save your money for games and just move ur ps3 and router closer to each other, and just hide the ethernet cable behind furniture..

Once you confirm that it is indeed possible, are you suddenly going to like the PS3 more? Are you going to start to praise Sony, or Bash M$?

You need to ask yourself why you care. Why do you care?

The Grass is green for all consoles in some regard, and the sooner you realize that M$ isn't all peaches and Cream the better. You already know this about Sony, why not learn more about other companies at this point?

get a wii, or an elite 360.  Or a new computer.  or just sell the ps3, and save the money up and get a real blu-ray player.

With a name like PS3_3DO, I doubt he will ever take his fanboy goggles off. And to the TC, perhaps you can find a cheaper solution. Is the Wifi going to be really needed? Can you buy the Wifi adaptor instead of buying a new PS3? Wifi is very very convient for me right now, but its not worth wasting $200 extra dollars on.

I see an opportunity to expand someone's horizon's, I may as well try.

All the companies do dispicable stuff at times, why not open the shades a bit more and let some revealing light shine through on all of them.

Regardless, the 360 is a fun machine, but posts like that do bother me...it's not like anyone comes back and says, heh, you're right.

Also if i do decide to sell my 20 gig PS3, how can I back up my game saves, because I have my God of war 2 files saved on there along with my resistance game files saved and I havent beaten either games yet.NeroMayCry85

id say go ahead and do it or you will regret it for as long as you have that 20gb ps3. i am not sure if you can transfer your game saves though.

I wouldn't sweat it. The 20 GIG is fine unless you plan on downloading tons of stuff on the PS3. If you're just using it for straight up gaming you're good to go. DO NOT sell your PS3 for a 360 :x PS3 OWNS! :)

I sold my 20GB Playstation 3 for a 60GB one. Was a great deal too. Got around $470 for the 20GB and bought my 60GB PS3 for $550.

Yep, it sure is 2.5 inchs Samsung, and for $10 cheaper he could have got a SeaGate. Samsung makes great stuff.

Ok I am going on newegg.com to see if I can find one for that price.

You already know this about Sony, why not learn more about other companies at this point?

wow PS3_3DO must really be getting on your nerves, I know he is for me.

He's getting on my nerves, as well.....>_>

you have to put all your info onto a memory drive, then put the new harddrive in, and copy everything over again.

I have no idea how you have a 20gb version they are non-existent now. If you hung onto it you might get some fanatical collector or whatever to give you more then what you originally paid for it since they're more or less unofficially discontinued already.

Although you must admit for as objective as you try to be, you spend 95% of your posts talking about 360 or it's fans in a negative light, where I've yet to see you prominently doing so about any other console. I'm not saying you hate 360 or are a cow, its just if you REALLY wanted to be objective you'd address issues about PS3 and the just-as-ridiculous posts it's fans make

Why dont you just upgrade the hard-drive? It would be cheaper...Wasdie
My thought's are the same, I mean you can install a 160gb harddrive, and get a cheaper Wi-fi solution via an ethernet bridge. Which actually worked alot better for me. I made the mistake by  selling mines, the wi-fi on the PS3 sucks compared to the ethernet bridge.

Dude I got a 20 gig and I say keep it. I am happy with mine. If I want Wifi I can add it but I dont need it. If I want a bigger hdd I can just buy a larger one then 60gb for alot cheaper. Unless you truly care about Wifi I say stay with your 20gb because for 100 more you can get a HDD that is way larger then 60gb..

You can easily get a 100-200gig HDD for $40-$80, and upgrade it yourself. It slides right in.

WiFi adaptors are cheap, there is no point, now that you have one.

100-200 gig laptop HDD's are most certainly NOT $40. (Is said between $40-$80.)

My buddy just got a 120gig for $75. He didn't even get a great deal, my point is deals are out there, I suppose I shot a bit low, but if you are going to spend $40-$80, you can certainly get a fantastic deal.

Is it a 2.5 laptop drive? Also I bet it's a cheap one that won't last a year.

I do see what you mean, but the ratio of haters for PS3 and 360 aren't even. I am evening the odds. If I do see something like that (Regarding 360 hate) to an extreme, I'm there, but I usually see the opposite extreme. The Hatred for the 360 isn't even as brutal it seems, here at SW.

If this were a different site, you would get to see another side of me, but here, It's mostly PS3 bites kind of stuff for most of the topics.

Anyways, I can't wait to play the 10 new songs in GH2 for 360, seeing as that just came out.

To be fair, NewEgg sells 120GB Toshiba SATA drives for $76. Toshiba, IIRC, supplies the drives Sony is using in the PS3.
