My Wii has been gathering dust for some time now but should I sell it or hold on to it in the hope that future releases will get my attention and make me want to return to the wii. I currently own a 360 ,PS3 and a wii and all apart from the wii get played regularly. Usually I would just go right ahead and sell up but when i got rid of one of my consoles before i regretted it. But this time I just can't see a need to keep it.

Persuade me either for or against selling my Wii :p

I could really do with the money heading off to uni soon but then again i have a job so i could do without.

I'd say hold onto it then. You never know when you'll get an urge to play an old game or when a new one comes around that will catch your interest. Especially if you have a job.

I've seen a lot of threads like this, so I'll offer my tradition words of wisdom.

1. Anyone who posts a thread like this isn't asking for advice. They are asking for support for the decision they've already made.

2. I NEVER support selling a console unless it's dire circumstance needing money. You've already invested in the console you are thinking about selling, and it only takes a little more time in saving up for another. Then you have two consoles to play, and many more games to choose from. You won't have to miss any games that might come out that interest you.

3. If you sell it, you'll get less than you paid for the system, games and peripherals you purchased. If you trade it in, the result will be certainly worse.

Keep it.

well, what kind of games do you like?

The Wii has some nice upcoming games and also some nice WiiWare games. I'd say wait till E3 before thinking about selling it, you never know what they'll show there. We already know Zelda will be shown so that alone could make you regret your decision.

It sounds like you're already planning on selling it. Just look at the big releases coming out for it this year and decide whether or not they interest you...don't really need anyone to help you in doing that.

If you're a fan of 1st party Nintendo games, or JRPGs, then you might want to hold onto it. If not, then sell it, but obviously you'll be losing money in the process unless you can really screw your buyer over.

Toss it, I was lucky enough that I was able to return mine. The console is just not worth it. Take what money you can get for it now and put it towards a PSP or something with a bit more promise.

Sell it. There are gamers who buy systems to play them rather than come on boards and brag about how much they don't play them. The more systems that get into the hands of those people, the better.

 PSP has promise wait...you were serious :| if it wern't for the special features of mine i would be hauking it for a DSi. there are NO psp games out or coming out that hold any value. even the ones that look good, like Soulcalibur: Broken destiny and LBP:PSP end up being horrible disappointments

Not much planning. I had some mates round today and we got to playing some games. We played PS3, 360 and even some PS1 games over the wii. Usually i would never think of selling a console but i checked the played time of the wii and i last used it inMarch 2009 playing house of the dead overkill.

I am starting to lean towards not selling the wii jsut because i may want to return to the wii. The game i would miss the most would be Tony Hawk's Down Hill Jam

true. I felt that way about one of my old guitars that i sold. They are meant to be played and if they aren't then there is no point in keepingit for the sake of it. Let someone else enjoy it.

I say you'd be crazy to sell the system with Nintendo's 3 big franchises getting new installments in the coming months.

Generally speaking, I wouldn't recommend selling any console, because you won't get for it what its worth and they'll inevitably be some games that attract you in future.

Don't sell it. You'll only be complaining every time a new Wii game is announced. Try getting games for it, so you know, can actually play it....

I think that is a strange question. I own a Wii because I can't play those games on any other system. If you are not interested in any Wii games, why would you have owned it to begin with? Hopefully at University, they will help you learn to make your own decisions.

In anyone's defense, you buy a system in the hopes that it will work out. Sad part also being, you can't really know what you get into until you have bought it. In some cases, even had it for a while. That's why I always buy systems from stores that I can return them to. I don't buy a single game and just feel it out, maybe rent a few games if necessary. The Wii goes sour very quickly, has a very short term appeal and that's why it's the most bought, least played console.

So you're basically saying people buy the Wii because they don't want to play it? That makes sense.

This. How hard is it to get rid of something you dont use? Just sell it to someone who'll appreciate the item.

I was looking at your sig and lost your meaning for a second :P

Even though I don't own one I wouldn't try to sell it.

1) how much money could you get for it? really?

2) Monster hunters could be good and if you like Mario... be sure there will be another one ;)

Exactly. The most you could get would be $50 and you paid what $250? $199?

DECISION MADE

Lots of people are saying you will regret it when Zelda, Mario etc come out. But these games don't interest me. I wasn't sure if i wanted to sell the wii just because i thought i might regret it. And people have pointed out to me that i don't need the money and i will just be losing money if i do sell it. In the past i sold my PS1 and some of the games to put towards a PS2. Now back then I didn't have a job so it was money i needed. I later regretted selling some of the games and went ahead and bought them again on ebay (some for more than i sold them for and some for less).

So for the time being i will keep my wii. And i will only consider selling it again if in the future i am strap for cash really need the money and the wii is still not being played. I doubt this will happen and even if in the future i don't play my wii I will only sell it if i desperately need the money (hopefully this won't happen).

Thanks everyone for the adivce and for changing my mind.
