Handhelds seem to be a great, and lighter way of gaming for those who are away from their consoles/away from home all the time.

PSP offers a good multimedia handheld while the DS offers interesting games that offer a great amount of fun.

With handhelds being relatively popular, you would think that Microsoft would have tried to enter the world of Portable Gaming. Do you think that they should make that move?

What you want their games divison to go back to losing money? They won't do that, entering a market with the PSP and DS in thier current positions will be Xbox 1 all over again,

At most Microsoft would do is replace Sony in the industry of handhelds. Its abit late for them to be trying to get into the market unless they jump the gun on everyone and get something out the door before Sony or Nintendo have a chance to get their next generation of handhelds onto store shelves.

Simply because Im not big on handheld gaming I'd have to say no.

The moment they come out with one I'd be doomed to buying it for Halo, Gears and stuff.

I'd buy it, but I'd still rather stick with the 360. Easier on my wallet to handle one microsoft platform than two.

Don't get me wrong though, an X-boy would be WAY better than the DS.

If they did, the DS will still be first place in hardware sales, the MS hand held would be second, and PSP last place. But they should stay away from that and continue to focus on their outstanding console games and features.

They would just be fighting for second like they are in the console race. How many handhelds have gone up against Nintendo and lost?

I think it'd be a bad move for MS to enter the handheld wars. Nintendo does dominate the hardware aspect, and sony's not doing so hot on it. MS knows what they're doing, and doing it well with the home console/theatre hybrid they've got going on, and I don't think they would be best off in the handheld race. Personally, I think it'd be the Sega game gear all over again. [Diehard sega fanboy here...]

I hope not, maybe if they had made oe before Sony, but i've had a hard enough time deciding between the DS and PSP and because of that i've lost money, but atleast now I know which handheld is for me, getting a PSP 3000 tommorow, can't wait :D. But yeah I don't want to have to go through anymore decision making.

I am happy with DS, PSP already offers nothing, so another handheld wouldn't do anything special either.

Personally am more than happy with my PSP and though not interested in getting one the DS is a good handheld too... if MS decides to enter the handheld market i dont see why they shouldnt... who knows they might come out with a decent handheld which would attract many gamers...

I think it would only mean good thngs.

If anyone here has taken an economics class, they know that a monopoly is terrible for consumers. The more competition, the better. It puts pressure on the other companies to produce better goods for us.

Isnt Japan the largest market for handhelds? If so, then ms would never be able to compete in the handheld busines. And  @ all these lemming saying the PSP is a failure or that the ms handheld would beat it. PSP is a huge success, and there is no way that ms can move over 43 million handheld units in 2 years.

My biggest problem with MS making a handheld is that it would seem far too much like a pocket pc, or some other PDA... I just don't like how it sounds. Also, MS may make the same stupid move Sony did and just port a bunch of games over. Bad move, easily repoduced. It would offer more competition, lower prices, and more quality games, IMO, but I still don't see the advantage of it. Other than linking to XBL, that way you can have your movies from NETFLIX downloaded to your 360 before getting home, or sending/receiving messages.... Lot of potential to succeed... Lot of potential to fail...
