With conforming I mean that they should go the route Sony and MS are taking, i.e. making technologically advanced consoles and games that appeal to an older audience instead of being more unique. I personally like them for the fact that they don't try to follow the gaming trends and go their own way even if that turns off some gamers. I wouldn't really like them to make a generic console that would be on-par with the competition in terms of tech and make generic FPS, RPG and racing games as found on the competing consoles. After all, consoles should imo offer a unique experience, not try to be like gimped PCs.

It is always good to have wild cards, in any entertainment industry.

Both times they did that (N64/GCN) were failures compared to the compition. While the NES, SNES, and Wii have done extraordinarily well

Except the N64 and CG also had a lot different games than the competition did.

The competition is doing what Nintendo does. They can't copy themselves.

If Nintendo didn't innovate they would most likely just get crushed.

A console that appeals to everyone, gamers and developers alike, is superior to whatever Microsoft and Sony are doing... which is ironically, always copying Nintendo.

Why would they do that when Sony and Microsoft are conforming to them?
