If you want a PS3 that badly, just save up and buy one. There are a lot of older cheap games now too. You can cut it out with the fake act.

Used to own a PS3 but the system was terrible. So I sold it.

Should people stop being concerned about who a product is marketed towards and try to enjoy them for what they do well? Yes

Like it or not, "casuals" will always be popular over "hardcores." Always.

If Sony sticks to just "hardcores" for PS4, they'll fail again. They most likely need to target both groups.

Everytime Sony tries to go after casuals, like with Move for instance, they fail miserably. Hell not even their hardcore games sell well.

They're doomed to last place I'm afraid. Then bankruptcy.

With the power of the Cell 2, blu-ray, quad core graphics, and 8gigs of ram, the PS4 will be ready for both casual and hardcore gamers. Sony is big, smart, and flexible enough to dominate both classes. I predict Sony takes 60% market share next gen, with the Wii U taking 25%.

LOL. You honestly think that those specs will come very cheap for $300 to $400? Doubt it. Sony can no longer afford to make such huge jumps with PS4 like they did with PS3.

They'll have to eat quite a bit at first, but they'll do it for market share. With the Halo series going multiplat, MGS5, FF series, Ridge Racer, Killzone, Resistence all lined up with PS4, it's bound to dominate. These specs are semi-official and may be tweaked slightly.

Sony's video game business is actually doing pretty well, it's the television business that is really lacking and will cause them the most trouble.

In bold...fail. It will always be exclusive to Microsoft. Plus MGS 5, the FF series, & Ridge Racer will most likely be multiplat with 360, 720, & Wii U from now on. And Killzone & Resistance? LMAO, nobody cares about those games.

Plus I got to laugh if you honestly think that Sony is going to take more huge losses off of each PS4 console sold just to please fanboys like you. They won't. Sony is going to most likely go the Wii route by using off the shelf, lower cost parts in order to make a profit off of each PS4 console being sold (meaning, PS4 won't be incredibly powerful as you may think).

Give me a list of 1st party exclusives coming out this year for the 360, which YOU consider as being "hardcore".

Did you know Kinect games are hardcore, all that unresponsiveness and input lag makes it hard to master.

Dead wrong. Wii has a large install base (mostly young casual gamers) and Sony knows they can't compete on that ground. Besides, it would be foolish to follow a gimmicky gameplan like that of Nintendo. Let them please the kids and leave the serious gaming to Sony. They know they need flashy hardware and power to win the console war. Free online and reliable hardware will propel them past Xbox 3.

LOL, you keep thinking that. Sony already tried what you said with the PS3 with "more power," & it didn't work out well for them. They blew all their profits that they made from PS1 & PS2 by going that route.

Plus "casuals" far outweigh "hardcores." And you can bet that Sony will start charging for online play once PS4 comes around.

Wrong again. Not charging for gaming gives them a huge advantage. Why PS3 didn't live up to its potential is the fact they created a processor too advanced for programmers, Xbox came out a year earlier, and the price was too high. Sony got too cocky, but they are now humble and will deliver a great console for just $349.99 Mark my words or sig it if you like!

Same as this gen and last gen hopefully. The nice thing about them is their mix of Mature , Teen , and E for Everyone titles. Just look at some of their non-Mature rated stuff coming up in Sly Cooper , Ratchet and Clank Collection , Battle Royal , and LittleBigPlanet Karting. Casuals can enjoy them and core gamers can have fun playing them too. They can always dip into more uber-casual stuff like Singstar , Buzz , EyeToy/Move games ..... but it would be a shame if those just flat out replaced the other group. Please don't become THAT company.

Sony should not suck up to Consoles and Developers who cater for the casual market.
They should continue what theyre doing, making great games.

In time, the casual market will get bored and only the gamers will carry on gaming.. well, maybe.

Sony would have already gone casual if they had found a way to sell the PS3 to casuals. Heres the reason casuals havent bought a PS3. The OS is god awful. It requires worse-than-PC like updates that cripple the system for 20 minutes OFTEN. The updates required for games are nearly as bad. No casual wants to sit around and wait for a mandatory install that takes forever. PSN is a really bad XBL knock off, but its free so no one complains. PSN shutting down for a full day every 2 months or so is also a joke. Worst of all, Sony couldnt market free food to a homeless person. The PS4 will likely be drastically different hardware wise and very possibly a revamped PSN requiring payments for almost all of the new features. They will try to sell to casuals again, if they're smart. Its so hilarious that Sony fanboys strongly believe Sony is taking massive finacial hits because they dont want to sell out their hardcore market. I'd be surprised if a PS4 releases in the next 3 years with how bad Sony's money situation is. The next Xbox could easily release and leave Sony in the dust. Then the tide will shift to Microsoft again as they release a batch of new exclusives and possibly new franchises with a new console. Microsoft will continue support Kinect but will not stop making blockbuster titles totally. Sony is just at a high point right now with what I consider to be largely mediocre exclusives that are being overhyped because MS is releasing a lot of casual titles instead of ZOMG HXC TO THE MAXXX titles. I personally dont understand why Microsoft is taking this long to release a new big franchise. People think they'll always just release sequels but they could easily come up with a new franchise that would sell millions on their great marketing alone.

This

Hopefully SONY realizes after Move that casuals/gimmicks it's not the THEIR forte. Am not saying Kinect/Move/Wii Motion controls are bad, but they are only used for casual games. So Move/Kinect aren't bad, but there are no hardcore games for it. If Sony and Microsoft want both the casuals and hardcore audience, they have to make casual/hardcore games with their intended technologies.

Casuals already fell for the Move/Kinect gimmick, they just need to attract the hardcore by making hardcore games, not that dancing crap they keep putting out.

Everytime Sony tries to go after casuals, like with Move for instance, they fail miserably. Hell not even their hardcore games sell well.

They're doomed to last place I'm afraid. Then bankruptcy.

Sony's video game business is actually doing pretty well, it's the television business that is really lacking and will cause them the most trouble.

Sonys gaming division lost over 1 billion dollars last quarter.

The PS3 is a part of the consumer products and services division, which includes HDTVs, which lost $1 Billion USD. They sold off their shares in the S-LCD joint venture with Samsung for a loss in addition to slow TV sales. I think that's what affected that financial statement figure. They've broken even with the PS3 hardware for a while now and I don't think there's anyway that Vita has caused their consumer product divsion to take that big of a hit.

I don't care if they go after the casual. But they shouldn't at the expense to the core. MS has done this to a large extent and so as Nintendo, except the Nintendo core. But Sony still have great core exclusives.

They do. Games like Little Big Planet and KillZone appeal just as much to "casuals" as they do to the "hardcores".

They should do their thing that they've been doing since PS1 and not try to "appeal" to anyone. Believe it or not there's more to video games than marketing and cutting people up into groups (that are ridiculous btw).

Should Sony go after the delicious casual pie that MS and Nintendo are after or just stick with the hardcore. They will have much to learn from the masters of MS and Nintendo. MS is the ultimate console for both hardcore and casual experiences. They have pretty much every genre and game type for any and everyone. Its just incredible.

The masters? lol Yet neither MS or Nintendo have sold as many consoles as PS1 or PS2. And haven't you or one of your other alts already made a thread just like this?

They should completely ignore the casuals as the casuals are leaving console gaming to go play cheap crappy games on there I-pads.

Do you really believe this question will be answered with Sony's best interests as a business in mind here? Casual is a four letter word here. An insult to many here. As a business, yes, Sony needs that pot of gold more than any of them. And catering to the "hardcore" sure isnt saving the mother ship. The gamers, especially cows, here are going to think of what they want first, even if its in total disregard for the company's life, that they claim to love so much. Life is full of adverse times, but cows will cry if they have to sacrifice some exclusives in order to right the ship.
