Should Tekken 6 come to Xbox 360 ? (fanboy alert)

Could it happen? Because I can't see Namco's champion fightergamegoing out in a whimper when its released next year to low fan fare on the PlayStation 3, which is bound to get discontinued from Sony. (you know its going to happen)

My old PS2 tendencies wants me to see that this series get a better life than go out quietly on sinking PS3.

Right now the Tekken 6 development reminds me of the Virtua Fighter 3 development for Sega Saturn that was put on hold when that system reached the end of its life due to mounting failures by Sega.

Namco got to wondering (like Sega thought about VF5 awhile back), "we've gotto make this sell", "we really could benefit by porting this to Xbox 360."

low fan fare? the playstation3's lineup in 2008 is amazing by far, but in my opinion. tekken 6 doesn't look all that great anyway. i mean, its not even going to live up to the 2005 trailer.

if it did come out on 360, i'd definately buy it .. even though the 360 controller might not be the best for fighting games (IMO)

but if it doesn't get ported over, i won't be that bothered

Low fanfare? So according to you the PS3 userbase will remain as is months to come? The day Tekken even touches an Xbox console would be the day DOA appears on a Playstation console (again).DementedDragon

I prefer DOA 4 over any fighter but the first few DOAs sucked.

Oh, I know. That's another $70 bucks I have to spend. And heres the thing. Its a fIGHTING GAME, that means, I am going to play with friends.

Uh oh. Looks like i Have to buy ANOTHER stick so they will bother to even play with me. WHAT AN INVESTMENT because of M$ dpads.

No, sorry. It just doesn't make fiscal sense.

And the average consumer, if this happened, would be selling the game on EBAY or GAmestop within that month.

Yeah I know, I got VF5 its not that bad, it just takes some re-adjustments if you are use to playing it on the PSX controller. Playing online where the gameplay gets more challenging playing against somebody else I found it really easy to pull off my character's moves in the game, and VF combos are a lot harder to pull of than Tekken's. So I really don't think it would be so bad.

I doubt Tekken 6 for PS3 will sell like Tekken Tag on PS2. I remember the Tekken Tag release, it was on the PS2 launch and that's when Sony had the momentum, the momentum they manage to hold during the Dreamcast launch. Fast forward 7 years later, and Tekken 6 is coming out more than a year after the PS3 launched late in the Xbox 360 era, coupled the fact that the Xbox 360 has taken a huge chunk out of Sony's fanbase (North America), unless that population of Xbox 360 owners alsohave PS3s which I doubt Tekken 6 will be a big seller. At least not in the US for PS3.

That's why a port to Xbox 360 is necessary.

Should it? Sure, I don't really care as long as it doesn't affect the quality of the game on the PS3 (the version I'll be picking up). Will it? Maybe, though Tekken has to this point been an entirely PS franchise -- then again, Ace Combat was too, and we all know what happened to that. Namco can port this thing to every system in existence, just don't mess up my PS3 version!tskeeve

Meanwhile, every Tekken arcade machine ever made has had Sony chips in it. I believe Tekken was in fact the first System 11 game on the market (System 11 being Namco's first PlayStation-based arcade design). Tekken 5 was one of the first (if not the first) to use the PS2-based System 246, and Namco has already announced that Tekken 6 will run on a PS3-based arcade board. If this doesn't smack of a collaborative partnership, I don't know what does.

I highly doubt Sony would let that game go to 360, but if it did you can rest assured that it would have online play which is EXACTLY what that game needs to make it "fresh" again. Only time will tell as VF 5 and SC 4 have already made the jump. If it indeed does end up coming to 360 I will no doubt own a copy of that game :)thegame1980
