PS. By next gen i mean the same gen as the PS3 and 360.

Ever since the Wii was announced laughter came from the haters, saying the controller is a gimmick. Later, when the graphics were revealed, compirasions between Wii and the other systems took over this forum and the entire gaming industry.Wii was a sure failure to all haters, but the result was the exact opposite. When the Wii launched, it took the world by surprise when it outsold the PS3 on a daily basis and threw the X360 off track as it stole the thunder to become the console everyone talked about. haters began with weird arguments that only time could decide, is it really a fad? is it just hype? will it's games flop? will continue to sell? All of those questions were answered in benefit to Wii and much more. haters make an argument, Wii shoves it up their behinds every. single. time. It just became clear that haters thought the Wii was just for sales, so they said sales don't matter as much as scores, but low and behold Wii has the highest rated game since the N64 days, and the new fighting game could probably take the charts as well, and what is it i'm hearing? Wii scores don't count because reviewers are lenient? WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS? haters, let's be frank here and quit this mumbo jumbo and get it clear. Lets ask the question you all want to answer.

SHOULD THE WII STILL BE COUNTED AS NEXT GEN OR NOT?!

enough of these weak arguments, enough of this unspeakable trolling, you don't even have to say why just answer the qand quit making a mockery out of yourselves so we can all rest in piece.

oh and if you say yes, then you are expected to accept any sort of Wii ownage from past, present and future while still accept that Wii is in the same standards as the rest of the competition.

Why are we still on this? The wii is a CURRENT GEN SYSTEM, just like the PS3 and xbox 360. It is not power that defines what generation a system is in, but even if it was, it would still be a current gen system.

So yes, the wii is current gen. So can we drop it already?

Of course. The Wii is so awesome, you need two gens to contain it's awesomeness. Not only is the Wii current gen, it's next gen as well. The PS3 and 360 are only current gen.

NO IT IS CURRENT GEN. JUST LIKE THE 360 AND PS3. This next gen stuff is so stupid. The ps4 or next xbox should be considered next gen now. These other consoles are already here so how can they be something in the future?

Yes it has to be, the Wii is the next generation of consoles. I think people get the word confused. What they should say is that the Wii technologically is not up to par with current standards, such as the PS3, or 360. But it is in fact part of this generation and until the next generation of consoles come out it will remain that way. People who say that it is not a next generation of consoles.

no, when it's only the controller thats been radicaly changed. far too many wii games allow you to play with classic controller or GC controller anyway, defeating the purpose in my eyes and leaving you with nothing more than tweeked GC

I didn't think anything has really been anounced about the next gen of game systems yet. The current gen really just got started... so let us enjoy our 360's, wii's, and Ps3's for now. Then a little later we can get excited for whats to come next gen, okay.

PS. By next gen i mean the same gen as the PS3 and 360.

nintendo-4life

Is this a serious question?

It was released during the same generation as the PS3/360, and it was Nintendo's follow-up console to their previous console (which belonged to the same generation as PS2 and the XBox.)

It is just as much a part of this "next" generation of consoles as are the 360 and PS3.

Since when did "next gen" get solely defined by Graphics?

And with motion control Wii's selling in greater amounts then Blu-Ray players, I fail to see why one is a gimmick and the other is not?

Regardless of what the casual gamers who call themselves hardcore in this fourm seem to think, Wii is going to outsell 360 and PS3 this gen and I am not quite sure how the industry leader cannot be considered next gen?

naturally things would progress in graphics, but if we were just worried about graphics, then we wouldnt have the analog stick or rumble. you really need to open your mind.

regarding bolded statement: you know that not every next-gen game has those features, so i guess those games arent next-gen?

A console's generation is defined by the time period it was released. Therefore, whether people (read ignorant fanboys) want to admit it or not, the Wii is a current generation console. Not last generation. That was the Gamecube.

Sure why not, seeing that the Wii was made pretty much during the same generation as the PS3 and 360 I don't see why it wouldn't. Sure it might not have the same hardware as the other two, but it is a step above the Gamecube in some department.
