Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Warrior Within , The Two Thrones, Prince of Persia 2008 and Forgotten Sands were epic action platformer games. We getting enough Assassins Creed games already, isn't it a good idea for Ubisoft to reboot Prince of Persia series for new gen consoles (PS 4,ONE.WiiU) and PC? Would be a welcome change from AC series for both nostalgic and new players to POP alike ... imo.AC series starting to drag already (Unity,Rouge).

What you say warriors? :)

Yes! And no... No reboot necessary, just continue the beautifully realized world created in PoP08 and fix some of the problems... Namely, the combat, no death penalty gameplay and a prince who sounds like Nathan Drake in a scoobie doo episode.

Tighten some of the loose ends and build something on the back of that whimsical world and they'd have a winner...

But C'mon... Ubi gonna ubi, so either broken or bland as f***

Honestly I liked that about 08. Game flowed so smoothly because of that and really as far as the falling down goes, it only really sped the traversing and saved you from a loading screen / game over screen.

I agree the combat could use overhauling and penalty's for dying in combat should be there.

Stunning game though.

@Chozofication: yeah, I mean it's not that the game didn't need a mechanic for quick recovery to keep it going, given falling is the way you die and the game is vertical as hell, but the sheer amount of it becomes distracting after a while....

I'd argue for something more grounded, rooted in some more developed combat (ahem shadow of mordor) and less, "I'm 4 miles in the air and if I miss that wall I'm dead" where a quick death/recovery system isn't needed at all.

@indzman: Ubisoft can make good games when they try, like Black Flag, FC3 and now FC4. But sadly, more often than not, they make crap-average games, like AC3, Unity, Rogue, Wacth Doge, The Crew, etc.

Nowadays i prefer their indie teams more, like Child of Light, Valiant Hearts and now Grow Home (i'll buy it this weekend)

In a way its true, they might mess up POP also seeing recent games from em ( Unity, FC 4, The Crew ) :(

Yes they made Prince of persia back in the day but these guys aren't same anymore. It'll become another glitchy, buggy and laggy Assassin's Creed wannabe. Ubisoft games these days are hit or miss (mostly disappointing). As much as I want new POP, I rather remember past games in good words than witness them become another Thief reboot.

@deadline-zero0: I agree that ubi has shown a potential to revitalize a franchise.... For cry 3 and AC4 are proof of that... But i gotta say I'm more than a little let down with far cry 4.

It's literally a worse version of far cry 3 in every way, from wonky a.i. to throw away characters and story from the get go. The dingy copter is a neat concept except it detaches you completely from the surroundings (though that is a small gripe) but the biggest crime perpetrated by far cry 4 is its ADHD... Its the gta4 cellphone game. I cannot even begin to describe how many times a mission was interrupted by a multitude of other activities and it really ruins the game for me...

While clearing a camp I'm attacked by a tiger, 2 different karma scenarios triggered and the ensuing chaos causes the camp to pull the reinforcement alarm... While I can appreciate the possibility of random encounters, it's seemingly on steroids in this game and it hurts the experience for me.

The coop however is excellent... That's all ubi did right last year in my opinion, multiplayer was good in watchdogs unity and far cry...

Yes, please. Although I don't even need a reboot. Sequel to PoP '08 would be welcome.

I wouldn't mind a reboot though. :P Just don't bring this into open-world. Let this be a highly visual, more linear experience like the games used to be.

@TheEroica: Oh, i definitelly felt FC4 was weaker than 3. Ming had huge potnetial, specially after the way Vaas was handled midway. Yet Ming is never seen until the end of the game. Far less impact than Vaas.

Has for the over agressive activitiy engagement, yeah, for sure. I mean, i still enjoyed the game alot, because it still keeps the ability to approach camps in many different ways. Plus the swingsuit and the ability to use animals was a fun way to mix things up.

However, that now traditional Ubisoft "checklist-atton" way of making open worlds has been creeping into Far Cry, in addition to WD and AC. It was already abit annoying in 3 when compared to FC2, but now it's starting to go overboard. Sadly, with FC4 selling 7 million already, and likely to go above 9-10, i have a feeling the series will go down the AC path and get progressively worse with each new itteration.

Until they make Far Cry: Pirate Cove.

PoP 2008 was a beautiful game. Personally I didn't mind the combat because the platforming-focused level design was fun enough for me.

But knowing Ubi, they will probably make it open world where you have to climb up towers to clear up the map.

No, they should be making a sequel to PoP2008 with The Prince and Elika fighting the forces of Ahriman.

Their investment in that universe in terms of staying true to the Zoroastrian mythology and integrating so many facets within all gameplay elements (even the collecting of the light orbs has a connection) was huge.

no death penalty

Not that this hasn't been commented on already, but I always need to throw in my two cents.

There is a "penalty" for falling, and while it's connected to an Achievement, it still counts as a penalty (that is, the achievement where you beat the game and fall less than 100 times). Plus, I'm not someone who would have enjoyed the game nearly as much if every time I fell, the screen went black/red, and then reloaded from a checkpoint earlier in the area.

The way 2008 approached it's gameplay was somewhat revolutionary in the sense that it focused on providing a fluid experience, rather than a "gamey" one. The idea that we need "death" in a game to feel challenged by it is unfounded. I found collecting all the orbs and trying to finish the game falling less than 100 times to be incredibly challenging.

I want a prince of persia in a similar vain to sands of time. The game was fantastic imo. I liked the level design to what amounts to a linear game about the story. The way the prince had his internal monologs to carry the story was a different way to tell a story

@foxhound_fox: yeah, I mean that's kinda of what I was implying above, that the lack of a traditional death sequence was essential because of the high flying game they created.

Where Im making suggestion is I'd like to see them not rely on it being basically the only risk in the game... I think there's more in that world than simply flying about and occasional fighting a floor blob monster
