Should we have Bollywood style games?

Hello my friends. It's pretty common that games attempt to mimic movies in various aspects. However, one genre that has wholly been ignored, is Bollywood. Bollywood is very much part movie, part music video with usually multiple dance and singing sequenced throughout. Should video games adopt this since games like rock band and dance dance dance, revolution are very popular genres?

Do you have an example of a "Bollywood style game"?

About the closest thing that comes to mind is parapa the rapa. Since this has characters, something of a story and context.

If Bollywood weren't connected with the Indian mafia I might agree. Lots of rich history in India that is ripe for exploration.

If this was an attempt to appear cool and edgy, it failed. Bollywood as an industry, is absolutely huge. While it may not appeal to your culture, to dismiss it just makes you come across as a small minded bigot.

If there is a way to make it work as a game, and if there is an audience that would be into it, I say of course we should have Bollywood style games. When we start saying, "we shouldn't do that" or, "we should stop that," we're just big dumb-dumbs who continue to limit ourselves and this industry.

You could have a Just Dance Bollywood edition? Though you could only dance in that, so it will be limited. But it seems like an easy way of getting started and popularising the idea.

Glee does indeed share many elements. Mainly that it's fairly innocent and good natured. Although not all Bollywood movies are like this. Whats wrong with having a happy good matured game? Games are arguably far too nihilistic, generally appealing to a nihilistic crowd. As a long time gamer, the old days it was very different.

All movie games suck, even the Tomb Raider reboot isn't based on a movie and its awesome.

The closest thing to Bollywood they might have is setting an AC game in India.

Parappa The Rappa is the closest thing. It also practically invented the music genre.

If Bollywood goes gaming ...

* It's hard too see the hero without adjusting the gamma

* there will lot's of active time event pelvic trust dance routine

* female character usually weak and spend time in the kitchen making "roti" and always depending on the protoganist to save them from bad guy

* the bollywood story concept will always be "the poor are the good guy" while "the rich are always the bad guy" ..... which means that less high tech gadjet and more to stealth and coconut as weapon

This is definitely one of the weirdest threads in SW in a long time.

When it comes to "who game developers cater to" it sure does. There's "Japanese style" games and "western (US) style" games. Making a high production game with a Bollywood theme would be a waste of money because neither of those two demographics would be interested in it.

No one in the States is going to buy a Bollywood game. Therefore, western developers are not going to make one. No one in Japan is going to buy a Bollywood game. Therefore, eastern developers are not going to make one.

No one said that. There was a Superman TV show in the 50s that was a huge hit - and was a serious show. The Christopher Reeves Superman movies (1 and 2) were blockbusters.

You may like that Bollywood stuff. And that is just swell. But, there isn't a a major gaming studio on this earth that is going to pour out millions to make a Bollywood game. Sorry, it isn't going to happen.
