synonymous with PCs?

People are going to tell you its System Wars, not Brand Wars, though, a lot of the time, there are many people who defend systems because of the brand.

This is true. I see alot of Microsoft vs Sony threads alot here. So if its brand vs brand as well, then PC should be considered Microsoft exclusive.
in the real world most average consumers would think that Mass Effect or L4D is a 360 exclusive. This is system wars so nope it cant be considered exclusive. Let me rephrase in the real world the average consumer doesn't have a gaming pc, and thus leaves the 360 as the only real option. It is a big advantage for the 360 in terms of marketing.

Any PC gamer will tell you that the "PC gaming alliance" is a joke.no, MS doesnt own pcs, hell pcs dont even need windows to run, it just happens that most games run on windows.
if anything owns pc gaming its nvidia not MS, trying to claim multiplats as exclusives like that is just pathetic and must really show how desperate lems are now.
no but at the same timepeople cant act like games like mass effect, gears, & l4d doesnt make the 360 a stronger console

It'll never work. Every time a 360/PC release comes along, cows say it's not exclusive, because they can play it on the PC, even though most of them can't. They demand to know why lems are ignoring the PC. Then the phrase "console exclusive" came around, and cows said it's silly, and doesn't count. On the other hand, cows came up with the phrase, "console graphics king". Completely ignoring the PC, and Crysis. They want to have it their way, or no way at all. To me, 360/PC releases still gives the 360 the edge over the PS3, because there aren't many people that own a gaming PC powerful enough to runs those kind of games. To the majority, that's what consoles are for. The lack in PC games sales prove this.synonymous with PCs?

So, you're denying that 95% of all games out there needs Windows to run? Sure, you can run an emulator on Linux, but the game you're trying to run still needs to be supported, which isn't very many at all, and it's more of a hassle than anything else.[QUOTE="warmaster670"][QUOTE="bphan"]

pc games also need HDs to run, so i guess seagate owns pc gaming too, as well as whoever makes pc cases since you need those to run pc games too.
Does Microsoft have complete authority over PC gaming? Do they get royalties from its game sales? No
They just play a big enough part in it to have influence, but they don't own it.
PC is it's only platform, but you can't compare it with game consoles because PC can be modified, enhanced and made better every year. PC's should be compared to Mac for gaming and not game consoles. The MAC has a lot of games out for it now, but I never system PC gamers comparing the two. MAC's can be upgrade and modified just like a PC. I never see any MAC gamers on System Wars for some reason. That's a platform too.

LMAO, my pc is powerful enough to play crysis on my 63" flat screen in very high with 2xaa, i know not every cow has a pc that powerful, but most people who buy computers spend enough on their computer that they COULD assemble a gaming pc for the equivalent price ($700 ish) if they wanted to. people who play pc games generally have strong enough pc's to run 360 ports, if a ps3 gamer is also a pc gamer its safe to say their system can probably handle it (unless they're only playing 3-4 year old games)
Alot of people game on PS3/pc for a combo, me being one of them. If a game is on two platforms it is multiplat, mass effect, gears of war 1, etc are multiplat games. Same thing goes for ps3, MLB 09 was a 9.0, but its a AAA game, not a AAAe for the ps3 because you can buy it on psp and ps2. While it is very different, its still the same game so its multiplat.No.... because cows can have gaming pcs as well...

Because typically anyone with any knowledge of PC gaming will not buy an overpriced mac when they can get an extremely more powerful PC for the same price and have a much bigger library. I'm not even sure what modern day games run on OSX, most people use bootcamp to start windows and run it from there if I recall.

You're over thinking the situation. I never said MS owns PC gaming. I said you need Windows to run most games. So, they're still getting your money one way or the other. Either way, they win.[QUOTE="bphan"]

They don't own PC gaming regardless not on the mac or linux, but anything that has games for windows logo on it its M$ platform, they do make money off of it, so unless we start dividing PC's into systems, based off of hardware/os, generally PC gaming will be a M$ platform which is why you will see more games on 360/pc that aren't on ps3.[QUOTE="warmaster670"][QUOTE="bphan"]

no that vast majority of console users don't know **** about PCs and their HP or Dell is garbage, thus the reasons why consoles were born in the first place.[QUOTE="MortalDecay"][QUOTE="warmaster670"]

We need a sticky for this. MS doesn't make any money off of anything with the games for windows brand.
This is what the games for windows brand stands for.
[QUOTE="MortalDecay"]The point just kept running you over, like a train, and kept on going.Espada12
Ok.. I see you have no point.
all the pc hardware is interchangable from other companies, the only standard part of the pc platform as a gaming machine is windows. And they are designed to be played on windows, payed license fees to build programs and sell programs for windows.... its like the 360 only M$ doesn't have to build anything to make money off it. But with your logic you need seagate HDD's to be able to play PS3 games so seagate is synonymous with ps3.[QUOTE="MortalDecay"]The point just kept running you over, like a train, and kept on going.Espada12

MS gets your money, either way. Either way, they win. Either you buy games on the 360, or buy games on the PC which require Windows...They get their money. In the end, they win. I don't know how many different ways I can spell it out for you.All Console games should be Sony exclusives since Sony is the only company that makes TVs, and you need TVs to play video games! What's that? You can use a monitor? Sony makes those too! Heck, PC games should be Sony exclusives since Sony makes Laptops! :osynonymous with PCs?

And my point about hardware is that all of it is equally as important as the OS, which is why no one can make a claim on PC gaming. X360 and PS3 are both closed systems except for the Ps3s HDD, but that's only 1 part of the entire console so it's insignificant. Amd, nvidia and Intel if anyone.. are the ones who can make a claim on PC gaming because they are the ones who decide when the visual barrier is going to be pushed yet again.. not the next windows...

You're still using their software to play games. They still got your money. All I am saying is that either way, MS is getting gamer's money. Whether it's through the 360, or Windows. This Isnt Operating System Wars!!!!!!!!!, I build my PC and the are no Microsoft parts in it, so why the hell whould i say its a microsoft system, i only use some thier software. If anything maybe you could say PC's are Intel or ATI.
