Shouldn't we go by Gamerankings?

It makes sense... Seeing as we could use the opinions of everybody rather than just one rating system. When you do surveys - do you ask just one person? No. Why? Because there are such things as anomalous results and asking multiple people would increase the reliability and validity of your results. In science experiment we usually test 3 times for something as it allows us to see any anomalous results and work out the average which consequently makes the results more accurate.

I'm just saying we should go by GR not GS when we want to really see how good a game is, rather than how good a single review system sees the game.

Edit- Others reviews are talked about before Gamespot posts their review but once they do post their review then that is what we go by.

You would THINK more people would go by average reviews when buying a game. You would also THINK that regardless of whether or not you buy the product, you could buy into the standards of the communities you choose to take part in. No one is forcing you to be chilling on Gamespot. You could have bought Lair, enjoyed it, but still acccepted that here it's regarded as a trashy-flop. Doesn't mean you can't like it, or (if it were true) Gamerankings couldn't influence your purchase by presenting a solid average score.

This is exactly why Nintendo gamers who love Metroid Prime3 or Zelda: TP don't really bring those games up too much here. It's only the Lems and Cows that do. They love those games, they scored great on Gamerankings, but here they flopped AAA hype and they realize that. They choose to take part in SW and realize that it's probably just for the best NOT to bring the games up. That's the nature of the beast.

If you don't like it, don't complain. Just find somewhere else to spend your free time.

I say no. I want unsencored free flow of information. Wether this is the Gamespot forums or not is irrelevant. If i want to discuss something i don't like people like you telling me what sources to use and this counts and this don't.

Thats childs play....but then again many here are children and teens.

For review discussions metacritic and gamerankings are exellent. Simply because they show the entire picture not just a small snapshot. And that is what Gamespot delivers review wise, a small snapshot. One mans opinion.

When you go to the movies do you check the review in just one newspaper/site?

Or do you read other opinions aswell do make sure that buying a ticket is a good choice?

Most will check more sources before spending their money on anything. I never relya singlereview if i want to spend $$ on games, I'm sure most of you don't either.

So limiting discussions to just one source is artificial and unrealistic. It's limiting the flow of information and that is never a good thing.......

Meh, I use what people actually say about the game rather than the pointage score so I don't care. The only reason i say is because you get games that are scored low here and high everywhere else (prime example being TP/MP3 etc) and it's stupid for pepl to use it as ownage when the game is clearly AAA grade quality...

But that would be more appropiate for a site like System Wars.com instead of Gamespot's System Wars.

I agree with the this is Gamespot and we got by GS however...

If you wanna argue this why mention GR? Because not every score they get are from the best of sources. If you did a survey on something like you mentioned which also add people into the survey that are 100% biased against what you are surveying on? No it would be meaningless. Not saying there are sites like that BUT I am saying not every review is a from a good source. If you wanna make a real argument then why not say take the best of 5 or 10 or 3 highly respected sites and average that out.

That makes more sense then just random scores.

Anywho this is GS so you don't have to agree with, it's just how it is.

It should be gamerankings scores that matter.

gamerankings and gamespot are in kahoots anyway.

GS score only counts for bets and if a game flops. Other than that you can use whatever you want, but for bets and flops, only GS matters. It's not perfect, but it sort of works.TimeToPartyHard

not quite true. It also counts for the quality of the library each platform (ie # of AAA's)

a better one (using politics if you wish) would be say GS is USA. GR is the UN, but in the US only the US counts, outside the UN is more important.
