It friggin destroys the cowabunga collection. This game feels way better than both of turtles arcade games that konami made.

6 player couch co op or online all the characters feel different speeds. This is how you make a beat em up. We haven't seen one this good ever. Its the best beat em up of all time.

Put these guys on a marvel beat em up next after they make some dlc for this game. This team is the best of the best like super giant games. Imagine wolverine and spiderman looking this good.

Everyone agree halo infinite can't even get 2 player split screen this game has 6 player couch co OP. what the hell man give this game the awards right now.

This game and Star Wars Lego Skywalker Saga are just crushing it in fun gameplay.

They knocked sor4 out of the park too. I found this turtles game to be much easier to beat than sor4, which I struggled to beat.

Both gamepass day1, might I add.

It needs some more bug fixes and some serious QOL features (especially for multiplayer) to reach GOTY status IMO. Supers being so easy to refill and effective kill the challenge, and being unable to disable it in multiplayer sessions mean they devolve into people just constantly taunt and super spamming, no skill involved.

The bugs are annoying too; occasionally I still will end up juggling a boss outside the screen, this being unable to complete the level and ruining that arcade run.

It would be new goty by default for me, seeing how it's the only new one I played. Definitely not a bad game, but I would've loved to see them do more with it. And unless we did something wrong, the PS version didn't allow 6-player co-op locally. Wasn't very fond of the art style either. Would've preferred the arcade version's style, not the overly 'kiddy' look. We also beat it on hard within a couple hours.

The combat was decent, and the nostalgic characters were enjoyable, but if this is 'game of the year' material, I think that says more about the sad state of gaming.

I love it. It's the best TMNT game ever. I think it deserves best indie game. I don't see how it beats something like Elden ring and God of War Ragnarok.

I can agree with this statement. I have had more fun with Shredder's Revenge than any other game this year. But I am someone who also put SoR 4 as my game of the year in 2020. Games like this remind me why I fell in love with gaming as a kid. Not all about shiny graphics, but fun gameplay that makes you want to just keep playing the game. No 15-minute long cutscenes breaking the action. and taking me out of the game. Just a brilliant game to sit and have fun playing.

And no, it’s a great game but goty?? No it’s not. For that you need to have at least 15 hour gameplay. This was a 5 hour run, and I suck at games. Most people beat it in 3 hours.

Why did you make up those rules?

I remember that time when a 2 hour game, Journey, won GOTY here.

its just common sense that games should be a certain length, otherwise they are more mini games than real full featured games.

well whatever the case, its a beatemup. SOR4 didn't win goty, and this game is very similar to SOR4, but easier. SOR4 is longer and didn't win GOTY either.

Anyone who grew up with TMNT cartoon series will already know Shredders Revenge is the best thing to ever happen for TMNT brand and I enjoy the game on Steam. Very fun party beat-em-up game. Okay, now I want to go rewatch the TMNT 1990 movie. (Can't believe that film stood the test of time)

Much better. Your casting of doubts towards this game winning GOTY is much more credible than outright lying over made up rules.

And it does not even end with Journey. You can look around and see other 2 hour games getting GOTY recognition. More recent than Journey I remember how Untitled Goose Game got GOTY recognition across the board as well; and while Goose Game didn't take home the big prize, if your made rules were actually legit, these games wouldn't be able to be nominated at all.

The online is by far the best in the genre, but the gameplay is pretty archaic and mediocre. With that said, I'd still buy dlc for it since beat 'em ups are one of my favorite genres.

Great game, but little short. And not a GOTY. Bought it few days ago. Anyway, not the best Ninja Turtles game. Still IMO the best are the Ninjas from NES. Will buy a Cowabunga edition a soon when it will be on discount.

@wenworld70: how’s the story in Shredders Revenge?? A good story can sometimes cover up those elements you mentioned.

Nothing to be butthurt over. Lol

There there now, I proved you wrong, and it's okay to be wrong.

There's nothing to argue about. It's not even an expressed opinion or viewpoint of mine, because objectively speaking: 2 hour games have gotten GOTY recognition in the past. That's nothing to argue, I'm just stating the facts.

If it got DLC, I could see the Punk Frogs being playable maybe new stages and villains from the TV show.

Nah. It's too spammy, imo. And 4 players is already too much. I'd never play that shit with 6 players. Would probably not be fun at all.

I like the game, but also find it a bit dissapointing. I would've done a better game. To compare it with something, I find both TMNT: Turtles in Time and Streets of Rage 4 to be way better games.

Really a great new game been playing the cowabunga collection to but this is the best TMNT game. Being able to juggle guys in the air and the dogged button add a lot compared to the older games would be cool if we get a sequel in like 2 years or something. Also maybe like a endurance survival thing like streets of rage 4 did. I also think we need a new difficulty. The hardest difficulty is extremely hard and the middle on is kind of easy need a difficulty kind of in the middle of the 2.

Game of the year should be Forbidden west and its not close. Elden ring is stupidly overrated and GOW Ragnork will be there it could win it and I am looking foward to it but GOW is also overrated.

I guess I am odd in that I think TMNT Micheal bay first movie is easily the best TMNT movie. I watched all the live action movies again around the time Shredders Revenge came out including the animated movie from 2007 and first Micheal bay movie stands above the rest. The first 3 TMNT movies are not good I think if I didnt grow up with them being a 89 babe that I wouldnt like them at all.

I think it's a great game. I really enjoy games where I can turn my mind off and just fall back on instincts. I get so in the zone I feel every frame of animation.

None of that inventory/stat/equipment management BS, just button-mashing goodness.

As a kid, I thought Secret of the Ooze was better than the first... I was a stupid kid. Ooze might have a scene or two that's decent (super shredder), but overall it's just cash grab trash. The third one is just awful all around, and I couldn't even stomach it at the time. In the Michael Bay one, I really like the beginning where the weapons are whirling out of the dark, but that's about it. The story is awful, the action is ridiculous, the dialogue is lame, and Meghan Fox has weird thumbs. The first movie has a better story, better acting, better dialogue, better music, more believable action, etc.

I will say Michael Bay TMNT is kinda okay, but I did in fact enjoy Out of the Shadows mainly they got Rocksteady & Bebop right and felt they carried the movie. I just happened to like the first film for its grittyness and it stick to the OG comics. Secret of the Ooze is a step-backwards but still a fun movie in its own right. the third film was meh at best. The time travel felt force and just brings the film down.

That's fair, but I just can't stand the Bay ones, and it actively hurt that when they finally did Bebop and Rocksteady, it was with those movies. Pretty much the only thing they could do with ninja turtles, that I could care about, would be a hardcore version of the comics, where they actually kill. But that will never happen, so the first one will remain my favorite.

The first movie has a better story, better acting, better dialogue, better music, more believable action, etc.

lol I like the 3rd one the most of the 3 old ones and the first Micheal bay movie I loved the action and the fact we see spliter fight and also that Raphael has a emotion moment being he was always like the hot head one.

Hahaha 🤣 Sweet Baby Jesus!! Do you put your socks on backwards too?!! 😜 We're just gonna have to chalk this up to one of those 'agree to disagree' situations, because I can't imagine finding any common ground, besides us both liking Ninja Turtles. Be well partner, and just remember... mixing bleach and ammonia makes chlorine gas... which is bad. 😝

If I'm being honest, I didn't like Shredder's Revenge all that much. It was enjoyable enough to play through once, but I didn't have fun playing it like I did the old TMNT games. I think GOTY is by far a long-shot. It lacks whatever replay value the Konami games had going for them.

I will say the game did a lot of things right, like the obscure cameos and ties to the animated series. There were bosses in there that I had the toys of years ago, and they maybe starred in one or two episodes, tops. The added stuff you had to find was a nice bonus but it really was only a bonus, and maybe the game would have been better for focusing more on beat-em-up gameplay than trying to shoehorn in snippits of gameplay bonuses.

But having more than four people on-screen at once isn't that fun. And I don't really care for the pixel artwork - I thought it should have looked loads better. I also went through all of those stages expecting...I guess for something I had more control over, but it just felt like going through the motions and boom level done. It entertained me for a playthrough, but I haven't had any desire to go back since.

Why do people keep talking about other games winning the Elden Ring award?

It's a fun brawler, but Streets of Rage 4 is way better.

Agreed. SOR4 has more skill to it, whereas Shredder's Revenge feels more spammy. And with four players, it's sometimes confusing because the turtles all look the same except for the bandanas. It would be even worse with six players. And the visuals also disappointed with the lack of CRT filter options (I'm not a fan of the pixelated emulator style, but prefer the smoother authentic CRT TV style).

While I still enjoyed it, I was disappointed it didn't live up to expectations. Whereas SOR4 had previously surpassed my expectations. Shredder's Revenge is a good brawler, but SOR4 is way better.
