*sigh*..........It's the Gamecube all over again

Besides the Wiimote, after looking at future releases for the Wii, I don't see how this will be any different than the GC. Hardly any online and the same old franchises all over again. Third party? It seem to about the same as the GC's support.

Really, how will the Wii be any different? Besides the gimmick controller, I don't see the Wii being much more than a GC and a half.

The half being the extra workout one gets by waving his/her arm around to swing Link's sword and flip on SMG rather than pushing a button.

For me, that would be a good thing. To me, it had better games last gen and it's the only system from last gen who's games I'm still playing, except FFXII for PS2. I can only hope it "goes the way of the GameCube"...

The GC wasn't really a bad system but that broadband adapter port was uselessIronMaidenLives

Also, people took advantage of the exploits and did home-brew with it.

And theres some nice looking games out this year, Mario Galaxy and Prime 3 to name a few.

The pointing system truly is the best thing that happened to games since the D-pad. It's really that great.

And besides, isn't the PS3 basically the PSP all over again?

EDIT: Oh, and you can't blame Nintendo for the Mario Party series. Nintendo doesn't make Mario Party games.

Being a sheep and all, I hate to say this, but the Wii is going to do worse than the Gamecube in terms of software. The Gamecube didn't sell well, but it had great games...the Wii is the exact opposite. majadamus

I'm sorry but a rails shooter instead of RE 5, an apparent bad Soul Calibur instead of Soul Calibur 4 and a few other games doesn't exactly = greatness. No More Heroes? Hated the direction of the game, saw some scans of it as was not interested. Dewy's Adventure looks ok, Zack and Wiki looks ok. Do you see what's wrong here? How am i supposed to enjoy the Wii when i am barely able to enjoy a few of it's upcoming games?

I mean Nintendo could have easily come up with a pointing device for the Gamecube on a fraction of the price but instead they hyped up this brand new system as a revolution which really barely has no more graphic power than it's predecessor. So your average gamer pays an extra £180 (don't know price in US) for it.

Eh...Don't generalise like that. People sure do care about sales. Sales are what made the PS2 get so many amazing games. Sales lead to more games, and more games means that the chance of one of them being good is increased. A load of developers have and are already shifting focus from the 360 and the PS3 to the Wii. The probability of having a few jewels, apart from the ones already announced, is great. Don't be so delusional.

Of course not you are sheep and you don't have a clue what a quality game are. Now go and play all your ps2 ports and leave gaming to people that wants more out of a game and dont buy a game just because Mario is in it.

That's a really bad comparison, where did you get that idea from :? If you had said PSP is basically the PS2 in the palm of your hand then i would of understood that (which generally doesn't sound like a bad idea) but PS3 is far superior in graphics and isn't a portable system.

Mario Party may not be developed by Nintendo but they have released it under their system which makes them just as guilty.

I used to be mr optimism about the Wii (pre-ordered one 3 months in advance with drool dripping down my chin), but now it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Last-gen quality games with different controls and first party games I don't care for anymore FTL.

They are still bringing out good games. Twilight Princess, despite being a port from the GameCube or whatever, was a good game for example. Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Smash Bros. Brawl are all guranteed a score of 8.0 or higher.

the controller is not a gimmick. it is changing gaming and game controls.

Indeed, lol. He has undergone a complete metamorphosis. He used to post 2-3 threads a day touting the Wii's superiority, and utter inevitable dominance. I guess it just took him spending some time with it in order to see that it indeed is the GC scenario all over again....only difference being the Wiimote and sales of course. Either that or he just finally hit the jaded wall after playing the 1827865758393290th Mario themed game.

The wii is definately getting more online support then the GC did.

There are old and new franchises on the wii, just like on all the consoles

and as consoles sell more, 3rd parties start developing more games for it. Companies have been and aredeveloping for the wii

If we don't hear massive amounts of 3rd party announcements after the Wii surpasses the 360's userbase, then I will admit that it's a gamecube.

Because at that point, it would be clear that 3rd parties simply hate Nintendo, given that there would be no reason for them to not develop on the Wii.
