I had an argument with a friend today. He says that out of all the current gen consoles Xbox is the most powerful cos its Gfx has better shaders. He even said that the Wii/ gamecube isn't as good as the Ps2 because it has more games.
Im not going to say that Wii is better than the next gen consoles like 360 and ps3 , but I really think Wii/gamecube is the best current gen console, better than the Ps2, even though stuff like GOW2 looks so sweet. Wii has teh gameplay.

Good point, well made. Even by combining the Wii and GamCube librarys, the PS2 still had many more games. And at the end of the day, we don't sit around looking at spec sheets, we play games.

Well i kind of agree about the Xbox, clearly Wii isn't as powerful. But i really think that its better than Ps2 , even though Colossus looks better than zelda , the frame rate is sometimes sucky. Anyway with teh gameplay WII/gamecube is tops of current Gen ,, Come on nintendo fans .. prove Wii/gameube is teh best current gen console

Point being? The OP combined the Wii and Gamecube. Gamecube came out in 2001. My point was, even adding the GC library to the Wii's, the PS2 still has more games. No matter what kind of games you like, there is a huge amount of choice for you on the PS2. Not so with the Wii/GC.

It is pretty clear that the ps2 is the greatest console of all time , and the recent games for the system .........Okami , FFXII , Rogue Galaxy , and God of War II trump anything that the Wii/gamecube offers at this point. (no disrespect to Zelda)
as of now PS2>Wii and i dont see a lot of 3rd party support for Wii, same as the Cube. Most 3rd party games are sloppy ports of PS2 games. Graphically I havent seen anything really impressive on the Wii, but thats not what the Wii is about. Either way I will still own one.

But If one set of fans is saying teh Wii is next gen and one set of fans is saying Wii/gamecube is not even the best of current gen.. Im confused.. Personally I hope that Teh Wii can beat the high standards set by PS2. Lets watch the Battle to see which one makes the best version on manhunt2. (Im sure that Wii has the power to match PS2.).
But yeah Ps2 has so many great games ......... hopefully Wii will get some good games in teh future.

I would venture to say that not even 1/10th of the games have been on the Wii yet, but the games are there and will eventually make their way onto the system. You can't just discount the huge library of games that will come for the system. Many of them are definitely classics and timeless. Those are a lot of good games for the system and can't be discounted easily. PS2 is a great system and has a lot of great games, but I think the Wii having all those retrogames is enough to eclipse the PS2's library.

And yet I've had more fun with my Wii with its limited games. Without games, the Wii has the Mii channel, forecast channel, news channel, everybody votes channel, and I can even message other people through my Wii. This is why I think the Wii is better. It's definitely the most fun I've had without having games to play.

Heck, the Game Gear is superior at this point.
