I am not a huge Silent Hill fan they tend to be very dark and I dont care for that while RE5 will be awesome based on what I have read and moving forward on what RE4 started.

however, if im not mistaken, sh5 is being made by a different group of people. i believe Yahtzee referred to them as a group of spectacular idiots

resident evil is straying from its old formula. 4 wasn't really scary, just an action adventure game. hopefully 5 will be scary.

Resident Evil 5 will be the best, no doubt. But the Silent hill 5 will be the scariest, I think I will buy it. It's still a lot better than Condemned 2:P.

i will buy both. RE has definitely become more action-adventure driven, which is not a bad thing necessarily.

Silent Hill and Resident Evil, despite them being both in the horror genre, are pretty different.

Silent Hill obviously has never been known for its spectacular gameplay because it didn't have any. SH mainy focuses on being a highly atmospheric game that happens to be unbelieveably scary. SH has been mostly about the scares and stories.

Resident Evil on the other hand focuses on gameplay now and not much on scares. RE4 had some great gameplay and it's a great overall game in it's own right. But it wasn't scary or nearly as atmospheric as the SH series or the past RE games.

So in short it's Resident Evil for the gameplay, Silent Hill for the scares. Hard to compare the two.

This topic should be called Alone in the Dark 5 vs. Resident evil 5. I lost all hope for SE 5 when I found out that Team Silent is developing the title.

SH5 is being made by THE COLLECTIVE which I believe are of the more promising "young" game studios out there right now. Their first game I know of was Buffy the Vampire Slayer on XBOX which was a great shot in the arm for the whole fighting action genre. Then they made a decent Indiana Jones game, then that STEPPING UP or something that I never played.

Anyway...I believe they know how to make a good playing game I just don't know if they can make a scary, psychological, wth is happening, type game like Silent Hill.

I am really wanting to get both of these games no doubt.

I am actually more intrigued by SH5 right now.
