Im sure it has been posted before but here I go.

PC gaming is very much a Microsoft system. Games are not made to run on a Computer they are made to run on Windows. This is why most games haven't been able to be played on the Mac till recently it is a computer but did not use windows. Very much the same with PS3 and x360 they both are made of plastic. Both have Ram, Video, CPU only thing that differs is the software. Try putting a PS3 game in a x360 then try putting a copy of System Shock 2 in a Mac and you will get same issue.

PS3 is very much the son of the PS2.

x360 is very much the son of the old but still kickin Microsoft Windows.

I am not saying 1 system is better then the other here all I am saying is that Microsoft has had 2 platforms on the market for quite some time now. 1 is directed to the laid back audience that wants casual yet fun and competition. 1 is directed towards hardcore competition. (Majority)

I was just wondering how people thought about this.

I knew this thread was going to be good as soon as I saw the word "logic".

PC is not an MS system. MS makes absolutely no money of the sale of most PC games, they only make money off the sale of "Games for Windows" games.

PC gaming is not Owned by MS....not only can you play many games on a Mac (halo, Starcraft 2, GEOW, UT3....etc.) but MS doesnt even profit off of PC games with royalties like they would with console games.

Well they didn't make money until recently becasue they did have the name Windows written all over it.

Try playing River City Ransom on your Nintendo 64... Ya it didn't work did it.

Microsoft makes money for selling Windows just like Sony makes money for selling the PS3.

except Sony makes money for selling PS3 Games.

MS doesnt make money when PC games are sold....they also dont own PC hardware....they own 360 hardware...but PC hardware is made by many different manufacturers.

they dont even make money off GFW...which is bassiclly just advertisment for Vista.

And Microsoft makes money every time Sony sells a Vaio.

And Microsoft makes money every time Sony buys new machines for their employees.

And Microsoft makes money every time Nintendo developers purchase new editions of Visual Studios to create games.

Are Sony and Nintendo "MS platforms" because they provide Microsoft with money?

Whos says it has to do anything about money?

If I have a non-profit organization does that make it not mine because there is no income. Im not even saying PC is Microsofts system. I am saying Windows is and Windows is what most PC games are made for. So it is some what idiotic to say Microsoft has nothing to do with the PC platform.

My understanding is the publisher pays MS a licensing fee for the added publicity and advertisement that being part of the Games for Windows "franchise" entitles them to. Its notas heavy a licensing fee as that on the 360 but MS still makes a small profit off ofGames for Windows games.I'll try and find a link.

yea thats true. MS does indeed own windows and windows is the dominant OS for PCs. MS is very much involved in the PC sector, no doubt. Windows is also the dominant OS for PC gaming.

but, and im sure ure already aware of this anyway, MS do not in any way own or control PC hardware, nor do they make money from software sales that run on windows. they also dont control whats created for windows like they do the 360. they dont see a penny from the actual sale of hardware (ie if u buy a PC with no OS and plonk linux on it then MS wont see a cent).

so although MS have alot of influence in PC gaming, they dont own it nor do they control it in any way. the only money they see from PCs with regards to gaming is the sales of windows and the sales of any game published by MS.

Then by the same logic and extension:

Windows is what every Nintendo and Sony game was made on. So it is some what idiotic to say that Micorsoft has nothing to do with the PS3 and Wii platforms.

Does that make the PS3 and Wii become MS platforms due to MS's involvement?

Hardware shouldn't even be considered. 90% of all Console hardware is 3rd party and that doesn't make the PS3 the Honda Toshiba nVidia Sony PlayStation.

Made on not made for. Microsoft got money from Sony whtn they bought Windows that they made resistence on. that is different. Of course Microsoft has involvemnt with every system they are a multi billion $ corp. Our cellphones have MS behind it.

there is cedega for linux that allows you to play games for windows on linux, there are lots of games for MAC's , pc gaming is not owned by microsoft but lately microsoft is being tryng to dominate pc gaming by imposing Vista and a few other perks, still they dont get money from people buyng 3rd party games.

ive also heard that dx10 cedega is pretty close to being complete, but the main reason why microsoft will never own pc gaming is simply because most pc gamers i know , pretty much hate M$ and their Os
