Do you think it's now fair to say they knew what they were doing all along? I mean now that the pc and 360 are following suit.

It definately has potential. Re4 on the wii is a great example of using the controls well. The wiimote is a good controller.

I think Nintendo realized it would be risky NOT to do something drastic

Nintendo was in the unique position of being forced to do something new. And because it was Nintendo they were actually able to come through.

I would hate it if all next gen consoles force you to use that motion stuff all the time.

Sometimes, after a hard day at work, I just want to relax and chill out with a regular wireless controller.

Relys

Yes but that game is the single biggest breath of fresh air for console action games in a long long time.

And thank god they did this rather than their drastic action being, trying to appeal to the hardcore and get third party support that way. Wii has paid off for them, they are the only company who are keeping gaming as it should be, you've got MS playing a monopoly, if we can't have it we'll buy it, and we've got Sony who seem to be completely oblivious to the fact their console isn't doing that well at the moment. Then Nintendo are back how they used to be, all about the fun of gaming, and accessibility so anyone can play. The new add on for it will just make it even sweeter, can't wait to see what games they announce today.

I wonder if they'll come up with anything else this gen or are they just going to refine everything.

They shouldn't do anything huge in terms of hardware this gen, since they already did it. They just introduce something and they keep on it until their next console.

No, I think Nintendo was mostly counting on their current GC consumer base and hopeing to attract the DS audience. They made money with GC, and Nintendo does their own thing. I think they were HOPING, but I don't think the were prepared in the slightest of the amount of success.

I am hoping the next gen it will be taken a step forward. I want VR gaming. The Wii is the only system to take a step even if it a small one towards that direction.
