Since theres less and less big 360 games coming out, 2012 for 720?

it really feels like MS is dumbing down on major 360 releases. and it feels like they are phasing out the 360, so should we expect the xbox 720 in 2012?

I don't think they are phasing out big 360 games they are just phasing out 360 games that use a controller. They are too busy focusing on Kinect.

yeah it definately feels like its being phased out since it only sold like 6 million in like 2 months or some crap. there will be no new xbox till at least 2013. MS major franchises are Halo and Gears. They have had either a new Halo or Gears in every year. This year there will be Gears 3, and im sure next year will have something Halo related. and to fill in the gaps between those releases, they have Call of Duty, and the exclusive map packs. Thats the business plan. So actually, they are right on schedule

if (you think) they can't make enough games for the 360, what makes you think bringing out a knew console would help? if anything it would just mean devs would have to develop new game engines.

Since they already said that they are treating Kinect as a new console and it's been pretty successful for them, why in the hell would they need to release a new console next year? They get to have their cake and eat it too. They have strong 3rd party support for the core system and their jump into the casual market launched successfully. Having a strong lineup of exclusive titles doesn't seem to be their agenda unless it's a Kinect title. E3 is months away, lets see what happens then.

Good money says there won't be a new non portable console from anyone there..This gen has got plenty of life left in it.

i doubt theyll release a new system anytime soon. they just released the slim in the summer of 2010 (i almost said "released this year" since i forgot its 2011 already!)

Yeah... except it isn't. The Blu-Ray has that ridiculous capacity, but it's limited by PS3's crappy drive -- developers need to duplicate tons of data just to make a game run smooth on the console.

The only thing the DVD9 limits is space, and then you'll have games that need two discs instead of one. It doesn't limit graphics, speed, etc. Only available space. And if you think MS is going to "dump" their well-selling product because a game in fifty needs more than a disc to run, you're just wrong.

My problem is that the PS3 has one year with a larger amount of quality (predicted) exclusives, and Sony fanboys erase the six years that have consolidated the 360 as the console with the highest number of high-ranking exclusives. The 360 isn't a cheap alternative for multi-platform games: it's the consoles that has more high-score games than the PS3 -- something that may, but probably won't, be changed in 2011.

Oh yeah I forgot that multi-plat games don't exist, even though the best games releasing this year are indeed multi-plat.

It is kind of funny how people in January talk about how MIcrosoft and Nintendo "don't have anything" for the whole year, and then come E3, they inundate us with tons of stuff. Of course, we all seem to forget about Kinect solely because we all hate it, but one has to remember, that it is a significant part of the 360 platform now, and Microsoft (given its success) is going to put a lot more focus into it. And what I've always wondered... is what makes "exclusives" the be all and end all of quality on a platform. Most of the best games I've played this generation have been multiplatform... and I hate the fact I have to own all three consoles in order to play all the games I want.foxhound_fox
