The increased horsepower a console gets from generation to generation can create more complex or realistic games than could previously be done.

Sheep are not the only ones who do this, I'l use Crysis as the example, alot of non-hermits say "But where is teh gameplay |" when theres clearly loads going for it in that department aswell .... its just fanboyism...

Graphics are a very important part of games, denying that is well ... not "True Gamers" like some people seem to think.

Truth-slayer

I honestly think in the gameplay department Crysis has very little that distinguish it, aside from the large open enviroments and amazing physics that are more of a result of its graphics. Im sure the game will be great, but its graphics shouldnt make it a better game than the other games coming out this year.

Then there's a lot you don't know about Crysis. Tweaking weapons on the fly with different ammo types and modifications? Changing the power levles of your suit to change how you play whenever you want without leaving the action? A dynamically branching story with side missions that leaves room for you to fail objectives in a FPS? A dynamic environment that can be affected by everything you do? Fighting in zero-gravity? All of these are distinguishing characteristics of the game. There is nothing like it on the market right now.

On the topic of graphics and gameplay, the only real flaw I've seen is that the argument exists at all. There is no duality between graphics and gameplay, because there's no reason you can't have both. Does it matter if gameplay > graphics if both can and have been accomplished in the same title?

All consoles can offer unique and fun gameplay experiences.
