I own a DS, 360, Wii and PS2 and if I were to own just one of any of those I would in no way be satisfied this gen. I keep reading threads asking how can one be satisfied with just a Wii, but the same goes for ALL the systems.

If I only owned a 360, which imo has the best library of all the consoles, I would not be satisfied. So many games end up being a disappointment. Even most of the so-called "blockbuster" games are not and have not lived up to the hype.

I'm not saying this gen is a total bust, some games are what we all hoped for, but compared to last gen this gen has been a bit of a let down so far and would be even worse for single system owners. Agree or disagree?

Honestly I really don't have the time to play all the 360 games I like the look of, and have a backlog of old games I want to play that is as long as my arm. The idea of trying to play the best games on more than one console seems like a bad idea. I would have to give up my job, girlfriend, sports and hobbies to find the time to do this. Probably not worth it.

As long as it offers what you like, people could be satisfied.

I only buy about 4 or 5 new releases a year, so I don't need many, but I could understand people being unsatisfied if 1 or 2 of those games are not as good as you hoped.

I would love to own more than one system, its just I dont have the money to do so. I am fine with just a ps3. If I feel the need to play something on another system Ill just go to a friends house and play their xbox or wii. Not everyone is as devoted to their hobby as some people are on SW.

Although i have all three systems, i believe a 360 alone is enough to keep me satisfied. Besides, there is usually a time period between my puchases of games. Hence, even with all three systems, i wouldnt be able to afford a stream of new games releasing simultaneously.

Pretty easily. I don't have time to play games on three different systems and I'm all about online MP. Halo 3/COD4/WaW/Gears2 have been doing the trick for over a year now.

This. I'm pretty satisfied with my 360 and have about 5 or 6 games i can immediately pick up and play depending on what I'm in the mood for. Recently I've just stuck with GoW 2, Halo 3, Fallout 3, and CoD 4.

Do you think this gen is better than the last one? I've already gone through all four of those titles you've mentioned.

Truthfully I could be satisfied with just my PS3. The reason I bought a PSP is because I rather play my old PS1 games (via remote play from the PS3) while I am upstairs plus they look better on a PSP screen compared to a 65'. The reason I own a DS is to have something to play on the go plus it keeps me entertained when on the toilet. I purchased a 360 just to have a alternate gaming experience that can not be offered on the PS3 far as controller ergonomics and exclusive titles (mostly genre based). Counting this gen my PS3 is my most invested in and played system by miles.

I only have a PS3 and a PSP and i think i have more than i can chew. When you've got responsabilities and bills to pay, you can't go all crazy and own all consoles. As for this generation being a disappointment, i disagree completely. This generation has given me some of the best experiences i ever had as a gamer. MGS4, The Orange Box, Bioshock, Dead Space, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Uncharted, LBP, only to name a few that come to mind.

Easy.

I have a job, friends and other hobbies besides gaming.

I only own a 360 and it more that fulfills my needs. (Same would be the case when I would only own a PS3)

if you have a full time job and other responsibilities, how can you have time for more than system. I have a PS3, yet I have not played all the games I own.

No I'm not satisfied with my Wii and my Ds Lite = I was a Nintendo Fanboy for 10yrs and they dissapointed me this year , Now I'm planning on getting a ps3 because I'm missing out on so much Sony games that I really loved eg. Ratchet and Clank , Killzone , Resident Evil Series and other good games and so far Ps3 is the most durable for me you just have to wipe it like 2-5 times a week for a shiny look and feel and ps3s are COLOR BLACK! THEY'RE SEXY!

I agree. I was going with a WIi only before I got my 360 -- I love my 360 but after 4-5 months of owning a 360, I've realized that if I just had a 360 and no Wii i'd be missing on too much.

I can't imagine only having a Wii, even having it's best games aren't enough, and sadly, some Nintendo games are a little overrated. I plan on all getting all 3(I have a Wii and 360), but I'm mostly a Lemming since I'll probably have more games on 360.

I'm fine with just my PC, i have a feeling that you may just be playing them to beat them, if you play a game with multiplayer and for fun then they'll last you much longer and by the time you're bored of it there's already another 2 good games out worth getting.

There is no way any gamer with a full time job can fully appreciate more than one systems worth of games imo.

I play quite a lot and still feel I have games which deserve more play time. For example Fallout 3 will probably give me 200+ hours (not inlcuding DLC!) Halo 3 multiplayer could last me half a generation, experiencing the depth of a fighter like VF5 takes a lot of time, Forza is the same. GTA + all the DLC is a large chunk of time.

I think this is a trait of younger gamers tbh, always onto bigger better things. People don't seem to appreciate games much any more.

Satisfied with only one system? How is that strange? I do have all three systems and A PC but I game 99% on the 360( the Wii and PS3 are actually my daughters but I have access to them any time).

I don't understand how anyone with a job and a social life would NEED more than one system. I don't have enough spare time to play all the games I actually own, never mind the ones I pass up because of that same reason. If I actually bought every game for 360 that interests me i would need to pay every day all day to have enough time to play them all.

So if you NEEDmore than one system to be satisfied that is what I don't understand.

Notice I said need, if you want all four systems just so you can have the opportunity to play any and all games you want to that is great, but to question someone else;s satisfaction requirements especially when there are any other things in life besides gaming is just ludicrous

Exactly, satisfaction is on the individual, not on an inanimate object. If you aren't satisfied with your possessions, then either your shouldn't have bought them in the first place, or the problem is with you.

Everything this person said. Most games are going multiplat so there is no need for me to buy another console any time soon.I'm not a fan of MS first/second party games so I see no need for me to own a 360,same with Nintendo.

With work, social life and other of life's necessities, I just don't have time for more than one console. There's plenty of 360 games I still haven't played and plenty more coming out soon that I will need to play. Right now I'm playing Tales of Vesperia and I'm at 110 hours so far in my first playthrough. I'm not even close to being done with that game. Love it!

I only have my PC right now and I am very satisfied. It could be due to PC not only having the most games, but the most exclusives. I am missing out on the least number of games compared to other single platform owners. I tried to have consoles but I relized that they were gathering too much dust and I never played them so I sold them.

I still actively play Wii, DS, PS2, Saturn, PS1, SNES and PC-Engine. I think I'd be totally cool with having to only play the DS, I bought about 40 games last year, giving me around a total of 80 games, and 2009 is going to be better. Same with PS2, which I have 100+ games for, but the new releases are slowing down, so I probably can't stay 100% PS2 at this point.

Those saying that they dont have the time is lol me cause why would you be here in system wars unless your going to work and your bored then its a diffrent story but seriously I see the same guys defending thier system in every bashing thread and then they come here saying that I cant afford it or its to much time to get another consloe well then stop posting here and go get another consloe (or job) cause being Multi-plat gamer is great.

Oh ive got a 360,Ds,Ps2,Pc,Gamecube,I-touch ( if you want to not consider it gaming ok) and im very satifyied. I may not touch the ps2 or gamecube at all but if I do I still enjoy it and its worth the hard work that ive had to reach to get them ( Though most of them where gifts.) Trust me its great you can say any consloe is the best but truely unless you own all of them then your missing out on something

I own one console from this gen. It limits me to how much money is spend on a hobby and allows me to not spend my whole life chasing after EVERY good game because when you dont own a console then it gives you an excuse not to get it :)

I'm fine with the 360.

I still game on my PC/Mac every once in a while, but that's very minimal.

I don't have the time as it is to play my 360 games, and I don't get achievements for playing on anything else so why bother.

It's easy to be happy when your system has plenty of great games for your tastes.I'm still a bit overwhelmed by the content.

It's pretty simple when you know what you want and what system is currently offering you that, I don't feel the need to run and get another system just because I want 1 or 2 games that are on it. But as usually happens you end up wanting to play those, in that case then I'd usually go over some friend who has the system and buy the game I want to play if my friend doesn't have it already.

My 360 and PS3 live hand and hand! I love my PS3 like a first born but the 360 is still my baby. Oh yeah I love Blu-ray movies too.

I own a ps3, and thats my only console, (psp also, and my nephew got a wii)

and since thats my only console, i put more love into it, (more time) i use it like i shud, e.g. watchin Downloaded HD films of my external hardrive, viewing nice family photos in slideshows, pumping up music in souround sound, sometimes using web browser, mailing freinds, playing LBP when freinds and family come round, (absolute fun playing with others) or going hardcore on MGO, yes i play MGO :D

and with a great 09 linuep im pretty much set :D

and i just purchased VChronicles today and cant wait to get my hands on it :D
