Skyrim leaked, pirares are getting it early

Skyrim is now on Xbox 360, nearly 2 weeks early

but of course since only PC gamers pirate, no one will say anything

we all know if this was the PC version that got leaked, Bethesda would be crying how PC pirates are hurting them and how PC gaming is dying etc etc

when Halo reach got leaked over a month early, no one said anything, when a unplayable copy of Crysis 2 got leaked a month early, it was the worst thing ever

So the pirates will be disappointed a week or so earlier than everyone else. Oh noes.

I think it is a good thing. It is getting really hard to make an informed purchased of a video game product, reviewers are either incompetent or are acting on bad faith by ommiting technical flaws or many other issues with big franchises. At least the pirates post in youtube, so this waywe can see for ourselves if the game is worth it or not. I always hope for an early leak on the PC, that way we don't get screwed up the ass like many games this year (RAGE, C2 etc...).

There was a leak for Crysis 2 if that's what you mean by C2.

I was going to say how lucky Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta were, but that it was a strange choice on Bethesda/Zenimax's part.

I thought the topic title was about Skyrim being leaked, but on a bright side the prairies getting an early release...

Sony probably got Bethesda hacked and then the PC pirates pirated the game to play on their stolen 360s.

And ironic as it is, pirates do tend to be more honest reviewers than reviewers are :P Guess there really is a positive side to everything.

All i'm saying is that at least we get better information on how the game is, rather than getting it al through deceiving PR and their advertisers (that is, all those websites like this one).

Yup. It did help making an informed decision in the end. I remember there was zero information about the PC version before it showed up.

Likely someone at the disc manufacturing plant. Its where most leaks happen followed by an incomplete review copy getting leaked by smaller review website.

What do they get out of it? The reasons are different in every case. It might just be something as a perceived slight from the developers or a case of self-entitlement.

But seriously, the game will be a bugged/glitched mess so until its patched everyone will be getting an unpolished product :P

Perhaps my sarcasm was a little too subtle.

The leaked footage I've seen had dodgy animations and bland voice acting, and Bethesda invariably crash every fifteen minutes after launch, so I was just making a joke at their expense - 'surely that has to be an anti-piracy measure, since they couldn't be launching the full game with such obvious problems, right?'

The ease of the crime doesn't make it any less illegal or immoral. But I agree, the pan example doesn't quite work.

How about this - piracy is like breaking into a cinema and watching a film for free - only to decide later whether or not you'd like to pay to see the film.
It might not be depriving people of their goods, but the filmmakers are selling the right to view their creation, and you are taking that right without paying them what's rightfully theirs.

I'm not even discussing the act ofpiracy itself, just early leaks. That could happen either by piracy, or by retailers selling it before the release schedule. The fact it improves the amount of information available about a product is an addedbenefit wether you like it or not.
