How much have you played of it? It has a really slow start, but by the middle third, it totally comes into its own.Tom McShea wasn't far off the mark imo. What I've played of it I'd give it an 8.0 at best.

Exactly, people expect a perfect game just because it is Zelda. I bet that incompetent Tom would of given it a 9.0+ if it was a new franchise.
Well, it is a great game, McShea couldn't be more wrong, keep playing Super Mario Kart Tommy, this is a solid 9.0 game.
its an amazing game worthy of ending the wii. Its the best last bow from wii that we could ask for. Gamespots review flet like a mirror of pretty much every major sites review of ss.

Funny you say that because Skyward Sword is actually very different. And a lot of franchises that take a risk by adding new things are hated on badly.
In fact a lot of recent Nintendo games have been very different. When change is introduced it is ALWAYS hated on.
Here's a few examples: Metroid: Other M, Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear Rising (already getting hate and it's not even out yet)

By the time I was done with SS I did think its usage of motion controls was very well done, but I still feel the way Retro implemented them in Metroid Prime Trilogy was superior. It's those games that convinced me motion controls can work, and they're why I want see them implemented in new games.

I beat it and played enough of the MP (tons of subway prerelease and a bit of retail). I honestly was worried after playing the first couple hours of the game, but then the game picks up so much and it has some of the best firefights, puzzles, graphics, and story of the uncharted series. Not to say it doesn't have its issues. It does, which is why I am probably going to give it a 9.0 instead of a 9.5, but it is very close and I am still deciding.
Skyward Sword, while an awesome game with some great innovation to the Zelda series, really lacks in areas. There is far too many times where I was dissapointed with the choices they made for me to give the game a 9.0. I gave it an 8.5.

Hmmm... in my opinion, Uncharted 2 straddled a fine line between interactivity and cinematism perfectly, which is why it was the great game it was. I have heard Uncharted 3 tips the scales over in favor of cinematism, leading to it being a lesser game. Would you say this is true?As for Zelda, I have only just started the game, but dear God, is it glorious. The characterization is spot on, the music is lovely, the artsyIe is so good, the controls take some getting used to, but come as second nature once you get the hang of them, the level design is wonderful... Right now, it feels like a fusion of Majora's Mask and Wind Waker, my two favorite 3D Zelda games. If it keeps this up, it will end up as my favorite Zelda game, by extension dethroning A Link to the Past as my all time favorite game.

LOL I mean the subway promotion, not the level. Meaning the early access through the sub selling place called subway :P. I think I prefer Uncharted 2's multiplayer to be honest, although 3 has some great additions and its a blast usually. My complaints with the game are that it feels slightly less polished then Uncharted 2 did (in SP mode anyway). There are some framerate issues here and there, some wonky AI (though not that bad), and so on. But nothing awful.

I have to finish uncharted 1 before I move on to playing U2 fully (I've played it enough to have a good grasp but I need to sit down and do it all by myself) and then U3. Opinions on it seem as mixed as Zelda.

Just don't give up on it after playing a couple hours. IMO the beginning was dissapointing, but later on it picks up and is possibly the best Uncharted experience. Oh and don't forget about the alternate control settings available through the patch, and IMO you will want the shoulder swapping enabled.
