Nope. It's still irrelevant to the gaming world.
It's a gaming device for toilet and waiting room. That's it.

[QUOTE="GamerwillzPS"]Ding ding ding, we have a winner. Only time I bust out my iphone to play a game is when I'm working and I need to kill some time. I find it funny that everyone feels empowered to speak about how they mobile game but doesnt want to answer the question i posed about its categorization...Nope. Its just a topic of intrigue to me. I dont mobile game to any extent but i was thinking about how system wars decided to enforce the pc is all personal computers logic and i applied the exact same logic to mobile... whats so shocking? You aren't serious are you? Oh, you are serious. Hmmm...

I agree that the SW meta game rules are stupid, but Smartphone gaming is not very good. It controls weird and most games you play for like 10 minutes to pass the time.

Where's the question? You claim you're bringing a question into the OP for discussion's sake, and then drop a poorly founded assertion and nothing else.
I suppose, then, that I can just address your assertion. Ok, so, ready? Here's my reply: Whatever.
Seriously, what does it matter whether we consider iOS and Android one platform? Either way, that gaming on these devices is "becoming more relevant" should be obvious to anyone with half a brain. Over the past several years, smartphone adoption in developed nations has skyrocketed, to the point where today I don't really no anyone personally who doesn't own one.
Couple this with the fact that some people are gamers, and those people own these phones, and these phones have games available for them, and these games are cheap/free...
Well, you can see where I'm going with this I'd guess. Problems remain, though, that keep smartphone gaming from being truly relevant. Most of the games still feel cheap and short/simplistic compared to those found on dedicated gaming handhelds. Also, it would be nice to have a solution for controlling your games that doesn't involve either smudging up your screen (and putting your fingers over parts of the action) or attaching a console-style controller to a portable device, rendering its primary quality (that it's portable) irrelevant/meaningless.
But if all you're asserting is that smartphone gaming has become more relevant over the last few years, I'll say it again: Whatever.
well, you guys will get to redefine the system wars "rules" somewhat when the next gen starts. that's a positive, right?
Perhaps question is the wrong word... but the statement still stands as relevant. And the feedback im asking for is that of agreement or disagreement... wasnt exoecting the venom but ok... the statement remains... if different os doesnt constitute a separation in pc gaming as it was explained recently, but the act of gaming on a personal computer is all that matters, then so it is that mobile gaming follows suit. Is that too much of a volatile statement for system wars?Where's the question? God i hope so... because gaming evolved waaaay past system wars mentality this generation. Sw mentality is akin to two old dogs laying on a porch dreaming of the good ole days...well, you guys will get to redefine the system wars "rules" somewhat when the next gen starts. that's a positive, right?

No, because using your logic all consoles are one platform too. Im just trying to get the bottom of our classifications and whether or not the same rules apply to mobile gaming as they do to pc gaming or if we'll be heading into next gen with yet another meta game double standard... not trying to ruffle feathers, just curious.[QUOTE="TheEroica"]ment still stands as relevant. People already have explained to you, why your reasoning is wrong. But you've just chosen to ignore it.

Ok fair enough, but we're still talking about completely separate os's... where kindle fire is a version of android, i think my point about ios and android applies well to windows and mac, despite the ability to instal ios on a pc... they are still completely different os[QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]Except it didn't.[QUOTE="TheEroica"] Its just a topic of intrigue to me. Cmon guys u cant feel THAT threatened by mobile gaming...?Are you kidding? Smartphones and tablets are possibly one of the biggest threats to traditional gaming, ever! If that isn't REALLY threatening, I don't know what is. F*ck smartphones.irrelevant

This doesn't make much sense though. OSX is modified Linux actually. Also..Windows RT is completely separate OS from W8 and won't be compatibile with any x86 Windows software.
This shows the fallacy of using OS as platform. What determines platform is ultimatelly compatibility. Otherwise you would have to consider Windows XP and Windows 7 to be different platforms.
Well all I gotta say is that I received an Ipad from my school and I had never once considered buying a product like this or use my GalaxyS2 for gaming.
But after doing a little research and seeing I can VPN into my PC at home from my Ipad and play whatever steam games from any wifi, I can honestly say that I would never in my life think of buying a 3DS, Vita, ect. again.

Oh no doubt, smartphone gaming is pretty gross right now based on its interface being maybe only slightly better than kinect nonsense... but that said, why are we all so resistant to evolutions in gaming? If traditional gaming is what we vote with our wallets then we have little to fear.irrelevant

Who honestly promotes mobile gaming before PC and consoles? I doubt anyone.DragonfireXZ95Well let me put your doubts to rest. Sales show that portables have as much interest as home console or pc. Like ds is only second in sales to ps2. Psp sold around 75 million which is more than ps360 so far. I've been a portable only gamer since psp now. And people that use them both sometimes use the portables more.
