[QUOTE="blingchu55"]honestly, you cant trust japanese sales anymore. The only real way to compare sales is america vs america(halo wise of course)mis3ryNot every game's sales has to be compared to Halo. Brawl is selling exceptionally well. That's all there is to it.
i though we were talking about comparing to halo

Thats really not as impressive as you think it is, considering there society is totally different than ours. In japan the MAJORIT of the sales for ANY game come in the first week. This also occurs with bigger titles like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy and Resident Evil.
Honestly, I would not be surprised if this becomes the #1 Wii Game (in sales), within a year. This is not counting Wii Sports. And I guess you could count Wii Play, even though that hardly is a game.
It'll be interesting to see how it stacks in the first week to America. I mean, a good portion of the Wiis sold are from America. Wouldn't be surprised if it broke 1 million in a few days.

It's hit 1 million faster than any other wii game in Japan.

Thats great news, but this is not shocking at all if you simply look at the japanese sales trends for games. This is definately still impressive though.

Your simply wrong on that one. Go look at the top Japanese sales charts again. There are games on there that are years old. Heck I don't think Wii Sports has dropped out of the top 20 since the Wii was released. I'm pretty sure that Brain Aga is still on the charts and it's been out forever and a day.
How many games are there where you can beat Snake and Sonic with Kirby?
Best Wii game to date in my opinion.
[QUOTE="Funkyhamster"]That's pretty dang impressive, considering the install base for Wiis in Japan can't be over a few million.jmorey01
Whatever the population is for Japan is the number of Wiis sold in Japan.
But that's just my guess.
cool, so that means over 120 million Wii's have been sold in japan.

That's not really true. Look at WiiSports or WiiPlay. After 63 weeks on the market - they're both still in the Top 10 weekly. Look at games like New Super Mario Bros. It sold 900,000 copies in its first week (compared to 820,000 copies of SSBB) - and it has gone on to sell more than 5 million copies in Japan alone. Some would say that Halo 3 will be the biggest game on the 360. I don't see how that's a negative. On another note, Mario Kart Wii will also sell a bajillion copies - not to mention, Animal Crossing Wii or a Nintendogs-esque Wii title.it's impressive, but this is probably nintendo Wii's biggest game in it's whole lifespan not just 08.

people don't understand how impressive these kind of sales are for japan.
it has outsold the top 3 best selling ps3 games put together, and has almost caught up to melee's lifetime sales, meaning that its sold better than every other gamecube game ever released in japan......all in just 10 days :o

no wii games do sell where di you get that one?
anit theres a bet going with thatA. It sold more than SMG in Japan, in its first week.
B. If you use the SMG Japan to America ratio, Brawl will outsell Halo 3's opening week by 50,000 units.
You guys really have to have everything spelled out for you, don't you?
