[QUOTE="True_Gamer_"]1. "Buh Buh Buh teh couch!!! " I can walk 4 miles in the morning...If the majority of people doesnt do this does it mean that I should stop? Or that it renders it automatically impossible? Same thing about PC to HDTV connection it can be done and its comfortable...Try it before you judge it...Datheron
Yea, leaning back on a couch = getting a stand for your keyboard + mouse so you can sit straight up to play Madden 08, a port of the PS2 version, on a PC.
Face it, the PC's user interface was meant for a desk, not for the couch. There's a good number of devices which work for an HTPC (e.g., the newest Logitech Air mouse/gyroscopic device for $150), but aren't suited for gaming. And yes, I have tried it.
2. "buh buh teh expensive!!!! " Now lets say something that most people here overlook: A NON gaming PC minus the GPU>>>>>>Non Gaming 512mb RAM Celeron Emashines cr***p. As you see a console on its own cannot stand a chance in functions compared to a PC so a Non Gaming PC costs max $950 including assembly costs (which are free in any hardware shop if you pass the $800 mark in shopping) thats with a 8800GTS 640 mb (it runs CMDirt maxed in graphical features and this is a VERY demnding game) so a NON gaming PC goes at $550 with on board graphics...plus a $400 console and its even...if you add the $15-$10 price difefrence in games you get the picture...And if you ALREADY have a PC tower you keep the HDD/MK/Case/DVD Drive so the upgrade cost goes at $600....Any future upgrades depend on the desire of having MUCH better graphics than consoles (if you want same graphics NO upgrade needed) and are covered by games price difference. Last if the DX10 goes out of picture the cost lowers to $650-$700 with all the implications that come with it...(no current console will EVER have DX10 graphical features).True_Gamer_
Learn to separate things into paragraphs.
And yes, PC's are more cost-efficient simply because you can do more on a PC. I can't write code or design my webpage on a console, certainly. But if you're talking just about games, PC's are more expensive than consoles.
Please stop telling people about how cheap gaming is with the lowest cost components. It creates misconceptions that you can get cheap crap and have decent performance and stability and allows these businesses to keep selling their shoddy products to people who don't have a clue.
3. "buh buh teh patches/complexity etc!!! " Quake4, Bioshock, PES6 Xbox360...A new trend in console gaming PATCHING is starting to become standard so there you go... As for any "complexity" installation of games saves much more time in disk swapping (for different games or the smae games) than it takes...And all the decent games install the latest drivers themselves...Other from that if youre a porn addict just rent a dvd...True_Gamer_
The complexity comes from tweaking settings, getting the latest drivers/patches for your hardware (not just GPU's, mind you, but also sound cards, mice, MoBo's at times as well), and dealing with stability/crashing issues. It's commonly accepted that console games go through more and better QA than PC's - b/c of budgets, hardware configs, and inability of patching up until now - so it stands to reason you're going to get more problems on a PC anyway.
It's extra work you have to do on a PC, but if you do it games are definitely satisfying on the platform. People care about simplicity, enough to pay for it; look at the iPod.
Have a nice day.
Then you must have tried something completely different...I have played M2TW on a couch and a 40" 1080p HDTV and it was an amazing and relaxed experience NO standing involed...
Also Ive bought lots of what you call "shoddy cheap parts" and they worked fine for at least 3 years of intence gaming can you tell the same about the 360?
Also why are you assuming that a crap NON gaming PC can do any tasks at all? And whats about the whole "only for gaming" thing? Who doesnt need a PC today? If you add the cost of a decent NON gaming PC to the console it becomes VERY expensive...
Last thats the key word...now consoles bear the burden of patching because the complex games and graphicslet more things slip away....
As for that MoBo/mice update  ...
