DISCLAIMER: ANY PERSONAL PREFERENCES MISCONCEPTIONS AND BIASES ARE CLASSIFIED AS FETISHES AND HAVE NO WEIGHT AS ARGUMENTS.

1. "Buh Buh Buh teh couch!!! " I can walk 4 miles in the morning...If the majority of people doesnt do this does it mean that I should stop? Or that it renders it automatically impossible? Same thing about PC to HDTV connection it can be done and its comfortable...

Try it before you judge it...

2. "buh buh teh expensive!!!! " Now lets say something that most people here overlook: A NON gaming PC minus the GPU>>>>>>Non Gaming 512mb RAM Celeron Emashines cr***p. As you see a console on its own cannot stand a chance in functions compared to a PC so a Non Gaming PC costs max $950 including assembly costs (which are free in any hardware shop if you pass the $800 mark in shopping) thats with a 8800GTS 640 mb (it runs CMDirt maxed in graphical features and this is a VERY demnding game) so a NON gaming PC goes at $550 with on board graphics...plus a $400 console and its even...if you add the $15-$10 price difefrence in games you get the picture...And if you ALREADY have a PC tower you keep the HDD/MK/Case/DVD Drive so the upgrade cost goes at $600....Any future upgrades depend on the desire of having MUCH better graphics than consoles (if you want same graphics NO upgrade needed) and are covered by games price difference. Last if the DX10 goes out of picture the cost lowers to $650-$700 with all the implications that come with it...(no current console will EVER have DX10 graphical features).

3. "buh buh teh patches/complexity etc!!! " Quake4, Bioshock, PES6 Xbox360...A new trend in console gaming PATCHING is starting to become standard so there you go... As for any "complexity" installation of games saves much more time in disk swapping (for different games or the smae games) than it takes...And all the decent games install the latest drivers themselves...Other from that if youre a porn addict just rent a dvd...

Have a nice day.

I can name 10 PC games for each of those PS3 games that are far better looking and better gameplay.

I still don't think you'll be able to play Mario Galaxy on your PS3 anyways. But you give it the ol' college try.

Yea, leaning back on a couch = getting a stand for your keyboard + mouse so you can sit straight up to play Madden 08, a port of the PS2 version, on a PC.

Face it, the PC's user interface was meant for a desk, not for the couch. There's a good number of devices which work for an HTPC (e.g., the newest Logitech Air mouse/gyroscopic device for $150), but aren't suited for gaming. And yes, I have tried it.

Learn to separate things into paragraphs.

And yes, PC's are more cost-efficient simply because you can do more on a PC. I can't write code or design my webpage on a console, certainly. But if you're talking just about games, PC's are more expensive than consoles.

Please stop telling people about how cheap gaming is with the lowest cost components. It creates misconceptions that you can get cheap crap and have decent performance and stability and allows these businesses to keep selling their shoddy products to people who don't have a clue.

3. "buh buh teh patches/complexity etc!!! " Quake4, Bioshock, PES6 Xbox360...A new trend in console gaming PATCHING is starting to become standard so there you go... As for any "complexity" installation of games saves much more time in disk swapping (for different games or the smae games) than it takes...And all the decent games install the latest drivers themselves...Other from that if youre a porn addict just rent a dvd...True_Gamer_

The complexity comes from tweaking settings, getting the latest drivers/patches for your hardware (not just GPU's, mind you, but also sound cards, mice, MoBo's at times as well), and dealing with stability/crashing issues. It's commonly accepted that console games go through more and better QA than PC's - b/c of budgets, hardware configs, and inability of patching up until now - so it stands to reason you're going to get more problems on a PC anyway.

It's extra work you have to do on a PC, but if you do it games are definitely satisfying on the platform. People care about simplicity, enough to pay for it; look at the iPod.

Have a nice day.

If you paid $800 for a PC, two years ago, and it can't play Bioshock... you got ripped off real bad. Unless you mean $800 including monitor, mouse, keyboard, printer, etc.

Then you must have tried something completely different...I have played M2TW on a couch and a 40" 1080p HDTV and it was an amazing and relaxed experience NO standing involed...

Also Ive bought lots of what you call "shoddy cheap parts" and they worked fine for at least 3 years of intence gaming can you tell the same about the 360?

Also why are you assuming that a crap NON gaming PC can do any tasks at all? And whats about the whole "only for gaming" thing? Who doesnt need a PC today? If you add the cost of a decent NON gaming PC to the console it becomes VERY expensive...

Last thats the key word...now consoles bear the burden of patching because the complex games and graphicslet more things slip away....

I'm a hermit and I admit that PC gaming requires more knowledge than playing on consoles and that the initial cost is highger. In the end it's up to the games, if you have no interest in PC eclusives or KB/M controls you might as well get a console, but the difference in price and complexity is definately exaggerated in SW and the benefits of PC gaming downplayed.

Well I can say that my console is better than my pc, cause I was able to play COD4 beta just fine and dandy and it looked great on my 360....I downloaded and played the demo on my PC and it skips and isnt nearly anywhere near as nice looking...So for me and millions of others....CONSOLES are the way to go...

I didn't say standing; I said "leaning back in the chair". Even the picture of that stand you provided - try leaning back and using a keyboard+mouse with that.

Also Ive bought lots of what you call "shoddy cheap parts" and they worked fine for at least 3 years of intence gaming can you tell the same about the 360?True_Gamer_

I don't believe you, and you can go to any PC gaming forum and find others who'd agree with me. You pay for CAS2 in your RAM, you pay for the added heatsinks and quality, and you run your stress benchmarks overnight to verify that your system is stable, especially if you're looking to o/c. I won't make any excuses for the 360, since I agree it's a badly-designed piece of hardware.

Also why are you assuming that a crap NON gaming PC can do any tasks at all? And whats about the whole "only for gaming" thing? Who doesnt need a PC today? If you add the cost of a decent NON gaming PC to the console it becomes VERY expensive...True_Gamer_

A crap non-gaming PC doing any tasks? Sure it can: e-mail, internet browsing, even some light Photoshop work. I'm saying from a pure gaming perspective, the PC is expensive; obviously it does a lot more, and myself being a web design hobbiest and professional software developer I appreciate its functionality. But if we're speaking strictly gaming - you know, like how people talk about the PS3 only for its games - then it's pricey.

Last thats the key word...now consoles bear the burden of patching because the complex games and graphicslet more things slip away....True_Gamer_

They're not to the point of PC games; it's hard to reverse generations upon generations of solid QA. When a console game needs to be patched (e.g., Team Fortress 2 online multiplayer lag), it's a pretty big deal and I see blog posts all over. When a PC game gets patched...well, there's so many that companies like Blizzard provide two patches, one for upgrading from the previous patch (1.11 to 1.12) and one for installing the game from scratch (1.00 to 1.12). The most I've seen games patched on consoles is twice; the 360 tells you how big these patches are and they're mostly ~100kb. I will commend some PC games though, as patches can also provide added content or rebalancing.

As for that MoBo/mice update  ...True_Gamer_

Funny, huh? I only pointed that out because it happened to me, in a little game called Titan's Quest:

http://vnboards.ign.com/titan_quest_tech_support/b23097/99862136/p1/

PC's only lack issues if you choose to ignore them.

One of the best Posts i read recently. Else than the TC's BS with al that "buh buh-crap". How old is he? 12? I am sorry for him somehow. Poor boy.

If you didnt notice these myths are being spout by little console fanboys that in many cases are not above 11 years old... Same with "the PC cant do HD" or similar crap...

Last did I say anything different I agree with him...on all points except on PC hardware since hardware that outputs consoel like graphics isnt that expensive...

now that you gave your lecture give me the cash so I could aford a decent gaming pc. my pc I have now cant even play bioshock and it is 2 years old. wtf, I bought that **** for 800 bucks and I cant play a game. please it isnt a myth, pc gaming is hurrendously expensive. fact.amorbis1001

I am one of the few hermits that will openly admit that PC gaming is more expensive and complicated than console gaming. But I think horrendously is a little bit over the top.

For a great gaming rig, you're gonna pay money. For me, it is well worth it. Compared to many hobbies, PC gaming is downright cheap.

Hey True_Gamer_, any rebuttal? I was hoping you'd at least acknowledge some of the problems with PC gaming, but alas, it looks like I'm getting the last word...
