You may have outgrown those games, but I think I cling on to them. Dunno, like I said, it's to do with personal preferences mostly. And no problem, I've been moderated way too many times for that, I don' want someone else to suffer as I did :P

In my opinion, none of these titles even come close to matching the magic that some of those SNES classics.

In my opinion, the best of the PS2 was generally better than the best of the SNES, primarily because of progress in the game industry and further technology capabilities. Even after having played games like Final Fantasy VI prior to PS2 games. In my mind, the Xenosaga series alone is better than any JRPG the snes had to offer .I basically feel the opposite way, especially when SNES had practically nothing to offer in terms of the horror department, whereas many of the games I mentioned above performed beautifully.

Yeah, absolutely. Technological capabilities have never played a role in a game for me. I may not agree with your opinion, but I can see where you're coming from.

Of course technology has played a role in games for you. Without technological capabilities, there would be no videogames. Without the technological capabilities of the SNES, there would be no opera scene in FFVI. Or at least it wouldn't have nearly the impact if it were on the NES. Technology allows developers to better realize their dreams. The PS2 could do things the SNES could never dream of. Don't underestimate the role of technology in a computer based medium. Technology isn't just graphics, and even graphics are important. The SNES was simply unable to portray Amano's beautiful artwork, so it was mostly replaced with more generic designs for the sprites, with the original artworks being mere abstractions of what was really there. With the PS2, those designs would have been possible.
I also feel that storytelling improved since the SNES era.

When you put it that way, yes. But as far as being a factor in making a purchase, not really. I feel as though publishers have focused more on graphics than story telling (see FFVI).
