I think standards have risen considerably this year. Games like Far Cry 2 and Fable 2 may have had a slightly easier time last year, but this is 2008, and the quality of games this year is, in my opinion and in many others, even better than 2007, and much better than 2006. Now that we have kicked in to the generation proper, we start to see some real eye openers. This means critics have to be sharper, and more careful when they come to reviewing games.

Besides:

AAAA = 10

AAA=9

AA=8

A=7

B=6

C=5

Etc.

It wouldn't make much sense to change what already works perfectly well. I think people should stop being so disheartend by scores of less than 9 though, seeing as it's a whole .5 of a diffrence. 8 still means great, remember?
